"Why We Fight"
Just finished this documentary last night. In the beginning they go into the history of Iran and Iraq. How the CIA propped up the Shah and after 1979 how we propped up Saddam.

Here is the plot summary.

"He may have been the ultimate icon of 1950s conformity and postwar complacency, but Dwight D. Eisenhower was an iconoclast, visionary, and the Cassandra of the New World Order. Upon departing his presidency, Eisenhower issued a stern, cogent warning about the burgeoning "military industrial complex," foretelling with ominous clarity the state of the world in 2004 with its incestuous entanglement of political, corporate, and Defense Department interests."

Perle, Rumsfeld, and McCain share view points throughout the film. There are parts that literally piss you off. The first strike at Dora Farms, 'the decapatation strike" bombed innocent families. We never see that footage in America, but it IS seen throughout the world. Do you realize after 9-11, they marched in the thousands in Tehran in support of America. They showed Iranian crowds with American flags. We had the world UNITED. They talk alot about Cheney and think tanks. How 9-11 let a K-street Kristol group and like minds set this neo con agenda. (on a side note, I saw Perle this weekend on Russert, god that guy has aged 20 years over the past 4 years, he looked terrible)

Some people on the Right should rent it at Blockbuster over the weekend. It might help you to understand the left a little better.

We didn't prop up Saddam. We gave him aid, in the form of intelligence and chemical weapons (Nasty, yes, but Iran was using dirty tricks too), against a common enemy. When he turned around and used it on his own people, we cut him off. As for propping him up you should look to France, Germany and Russia/Soviet Union. Oh and just about every other Arab nation. Of course, I researched that info on my own. I don't wait to be spoon fed by the latest "documentary" found at Blockbuster or MoveOn.org.

Yeah, it all started in 2004. Right. If you were actually as much a student of history as you pretend to be you'd know that political, corporate and defense interests have been intertwined since the country began. It's pretty basic knowledge actually. Do some basic research starting with the Revolutionary War. I dare you. Wikipedia doesn't count, by the way. You have to do your own research.

Wow. Imagine that. Three Republicans agree on multiple topics. Who would've thunk it? Conspiracy!

I've seen plenty of footage and information on Dora Farms. I don't know why you haven't. It's widely available to anybody that really wants to see it. I can't begin to imagine why you were denied access to it. Conspiracy!

I got a newsflash for you, Spanky. There are still many, many Iranians that are pro-United States. You'd know that if you cared to look. There are quite a few Iranians who are pro-Israel, as well. Harder to find to be sure, but they are there. As for the rest of the world the only thing they were united in was lip-service. When it came down to real action we could only count on the same countries we always do. Like Afghanistan for example. Most of the world fully supported us in taking down the Taliban government, until we asked for help. Then all we got was a lot of hand-wringing and symbolic support. Not counting the countries that wanted special sweetheart deals for their help (i.e. trade pacts, loans, debt forgiveness, grants, etc) who then turned around to be all self-righteous when we refused. The irony being that those who did help us got these kinds of deals, but never asked or demanded them.

Kinda like how you let your fave documentaries and Bill Mahr set yours, huh?

Who cares?

Some people on the Left should do their own research in order to form their opinions instead of basing it on DVDs from Blockbuster and asinine tv personalities. It might help you understand reality a little better.

Most of them are scattered across the globe in free English speaking countries like the U.S. and Australia. Most of them left Iran when the Ayatollah took over.

Definitely, but there are still a few in Iran. Like I said, they are harder to find nowadays, but still there.

I bought off ebay awhile back a 1979 copy of the Ayotollah's Mein Kampf book on Islamic Government. Its a horryfing piece of work, but I figure something big is bound to happen at some point in Iran at which point its going back on ebay for sale. war profiteering.

We have been hoping for awhile this group would start an internal revolution but hasn't happened yet. They need guns for one thing. Our action in Iraq has forced the Saudi's now finally confronting them economically atleast out of their own self-interest. apparently economic conditions are getting bad now inside, should be interesting.

If there is a revolution, it will be bloodless (well, relatively anyway) just like the last one. Ironically, it'll probably be led by students too...just like the last one.
