For the cockroach migration one, the headline didn't say "Global warming". It said "Climate change". If the temperatures have gotten warmer IN AUSTRALIA there could very well be a shift in species.

Of course, the media does go crazy with this kind of thing, and inundates with all this stuff. How else can they sell their newspapers, etc? If there's an article in Scientific American about it I might read it, otherwise you get the usual un-nuanced, partly correct and maybe misrepresented version of what scientists are saying.
