CLEMSON, S.C. (AP) -- Starter B.J. LaMura gave up two hits in five innings as top-ranked Clemson held on to defeat No. 3 Wake Forest 5-3 on Saturday night.
Catcher Seth Miller had two of Clemson's eight hits to lead the offense. The Tigers improve to 37-6 and 11-3 in the Atlantic Coast Conference.
Thomas Boozer pitched 3 1-3 innings in relief of LaMura while Patrick Hogan got the final two outs for his third save of the year.
Wake Forest fell to 36-7 and 15-4 in the ACC.
Clemson put the game away with a three-run fourth inning. David Slevin had a run-scoring sacrifice fly, Miller drove in a run with a single and Roberto Valiente followed with a triple to make it 4-0 off starter Seth Hill (3-1).
LaMura (5-1), who got the victory, walked the first two Wake Forest batters in the sixth to end his outing. The Demon Deacons scored twice after Boozer came on. But with two-on, two-out and trailing 4-2, Boozer struck out Jamie D'Antona to end the threat.
Clemson added a final run in the sixth when, already with two on, reliever Daniel Davidson walked Kyle Frank and Khalil Greene to make it 5-2.
Boozer gave up a solo homer to Stephen Ghutzman in the seventh.
