....and so the spitting begins.
[quote][b]Woman accused of spitting in soldier's face
A Syracuse woman was charged after a Fort Drum soldier accused her of spitting on him without provocation at Hancock International Airport, Syracuse police said.

Lauren Maggi, 35, of 256 Thurber St., was charged with second-degree harassment after the Nov. 22 incident, according to a police report.

Jason Jones, 21, told police a woman he did not know walked up to him near the United Airlines ticket counter, asked him if he was a Fort Drum solider and, when he responded that he was, spat in his face.

Please allow me to go off topic here.

If a man had done that, he might well have gotten his ass kicked. The fact that a woman did it -- believing that she was in no danger of physical retaliation because that soldier wouldn't hit a woman -- offends my feminist sensibilities.

So, are you saying that he should have kicked her :moon: ?

I seriously doubt I could restrain myself. I have been slapped, punched, kicked, and kneed by women, and kept my composure. You cannot hit a woman. This was drilled into my head since day one.

However, ....

....if a woman spit on me, as this moonbat did, I can't say that the ***** wouldn't be on the ground looking for her teeth.

It is what it is. Abuser of women, no. ...but there is a line. That.....is the line.

No, I wouldn't presume to tell him what he should do -- I think it's good that he did what he did, letting the police handle it; and if it had been a man who spat on the soldier, I'd think it would be good if that were handled the same way. But again, all that is is how I would like it to happen in Ideal World, and I would not tell Mr. Jones what he should do. That's up to him.

However, if he had *chosen* to kick her :moon: I wouldn't blame him! (Trouble is, it would look really bad for a soldier to beat up on a "defenseless" woman, never mind if she started it... suffice it to say, most folks' ideas of gender equality don't exactly jive with mine. So I'm really glad he didn't.)

All I'm saying is that the spitter may not admit it or even know it, but I bet that on some level she was counting on this guy having been raised like RebelKev was -- taught that you don't EVER hit a woman. And counting on that -- on being able to assault a man, knowing that he has been conditioned not to respond in kind -- is dirty pool.

Further more off subject, today I looked at the police beat section of my local paper (section that reports on arrests) and recently I've noticed a trend of more women getting arrested for slapping, punching, fighting, or beating their husbands or boyfriends - more than the reverse. Obviously the fairer sex has become a little more aggressive.

But back to the spitting. Regardless of ones view of the war, thats just uncalled for.

This better not be a slap on the wrist and this is coming from a guy who really doesn't get worked up when someone burns a flag in protest. The lady should be thrown in jail for at least 6 months. That's total bs.

Good points. And to add to the irony, what would have been the consequences if she had done this in Iraq or Afghanistan?
