Army Times: Time for Rumsfeld to Go
http://www.armytimes.com/story.php?f=1-2...333360.php

Quote:Rumsfeld has lost credibility with the uniformed leadership, with the troops, with Congress and with the public at large. His strategy has failed, and his ability to lead is compromised. And although the blame for our failures in Iraq rests with the secretary, it will be the troops who bear its brunt.

A Gannett publication. The ______ Times aren't official newspapers of the US Armed Forces. Hate to break it to you. They are staffed with the same type of liberal journalists that comprise the NY Times, Washington Post, AJC, et. al.

...and liberals have been calling for the ouster of Rumsfeld for what, 5 years? How's that working out, btw?

Quote:Shortly after Gannett bought the papers in 1997, the media giant installed as editor Robert Hodierne. He is best known for teaming up in 1969 with then-Associated Press reporter Peter Arnett in Vietnam to bring attention to a small group of American soldiers who refused to fight.

The Army Times is good for two things, to get cutoff scores and to see the newest pay scale. That's about it.

He resigned. I hardly see how this validates the whole "calling for ouster" argument.

Resigned my ass... maybe that is what the republicans are saying, but when it came down to it he was told to get out. You know it, I know it, everyone knows it. You don't resign the day after an election that you got your ass kicked unless you are told to.

...and you base this on what, the voices in your head? If you can't validate it, it's pure speculation.

He was a lightening rod. And the dems had made it pretty clear that he'd spend all his time in hearings answering their questions.

I figure it was probably worked out before the election that if the dems took power he'd go. If they want to get anything done the next two years he had to go.

I don't need to validate it... it is painfully obvious. Honestly, there is no other reason except for what ninerfan1 said.
