Truly a frightening scenario. Tell the code to switch every 6th Republican vote to Democrat or vice versa. At the end they even have the paer scan machines. They have board certifiers fill out a ballot to see if they think this machine could still be hacked. They cleared the memory card. 6 voted no 2 voted yes. The printout came out 7 yes votes 1 no. I can't help but thinking all the exit polls had Kerry up by 3% in Ohio.

I can't help thinking that Dino Rossi is really Washington's governor.

Also, if you think there's some damn Republican Conspiracy.....

They also had him tied with Bush in Mississippi. That should tell you something about their reliability.

In any case the hacking of voting machines isn't an appealing prospect.

However dead people that vote democrat out number republicans 4-1.

Reb,

Democrat, Republican, Liberarian, Communist........................

Everyone should be concerned about a paperless way of tabulating votes. AND WE ALL SHOULD BE CONCERNED when a precinct shows 95% to one candidate and the exit polling thought it should of been 70%. Every party has it's wackos. Are you saying it couldn't happen? My co-workers always bring up Chicago and they think they cooked the books. That too sickens me. I want one man (or woman) one vote and I WANT THAT VOTE COUNTED CORRECTLY. I don't think that's much too ask.

I early voted this year and the machines in my area were the new ones that give a paper receipt along with your electronic vote. Pretty neat actually.

I do agree with you though Dogger, I think there should be a paper trail for these machines.

I can't stand dead people voting for Democrats either. It's sickening and it let's people morally justify shenanigans on their end. We invest whatever we have to to make it fair and just. This is more important now than ever.

What's crazy niner. Even the paper ballots can be manipulated by a code that can be hacked in within in seconds. I don't know the answer. Maybe we go back to the old voting machines and we have a Dem and Repub sitting behind the machine watching the wheels. One pull one tally. I don't know, but you need to see the documentary.

Yes, but you shouldn't be given the receipt to keep. You should be required to deposit it into a locked box. Here's why:

1. If you need a recount, then you want the receipts.

2. If you send people out w/ tickets those can be forged, and make it look like the voting was "hacked".

3. If you send people out w/ tickets they can be used illegally by unions or employers to force people to vote their way.

Keep the tickets in the strongbox, and I think you have a simple, straightforward solution.

You can't open the box unless you have two keys just like the submarine nuclear codes. The head of each county's respective parties hold each one.

I tend to think that gives too much credence to our current 2-party system.

Storage and handling of lockboxes is old technology. I'm sure a system can be put in place w/ relative ease. I'm sure the commondreams.org people will make up some problem, but that's their whole purpose in life.

All my banking is done electronically. Should I be "scared"?

Also, exit polls are becoming notoriously inaccurate. You ever been polled? I haven't and I know of no one that has.

It was the Democrats that b-itched about updating the voting methods because their constituents were too stupid to read a f'n butterfly ballot.

Not a proud moment. I still cringe when someone brings that up even today.

Your not serious about the banking thing are you. You know what you put in. So it better show up on your bank statement.

On another note. Can you imagine if someone somehow could take one penny from every creidt card transaction? I have no idea what I spend on every transaction. In your hacker code only take the penny when it is an odd number. When ever there is a 10 dollar charge or 10.50 cents don't take it. You would never get caught and you would probably be a billionaire in a year.

Did you ever watch Superman III?

Richard Pryor's character shaves off the fractions of a cent from everyone's paycheck taxes and puts them into his account....

No, but they did something like it in an early Angelina Jolie movie. Her first husband (Johnny Lee Miller???) was the other co-star. "Hackers" I believe was the name of the movie.
