This line struck me the most:

yea I read his whole statement - kind of puts things in perspective for the Ken Mehlman types out there who sell their soul to stay in the game. I would LOVE to hear Rove et al spin this. 03-puke

What is there to spin? He's one guy who has an opinion. There's nothing anymore or less unique about him than any other soldier who speaks out against the war, or the numerous ones who voice support for it.

I respect his service and honor he and his brother's sacrifice, but his opinion is still his opinion.

Good for you...Im glad you respect his service and his sacrifice. As for "what is there to spin.." - I won't comment further except to say that wasted mental energy is something I cannot afford and that question is as scary as it is ridiculous. What is there to spin? 01-wingedeagle

I can believe that.

Granted I know questions that are logical and reasonable are very scary to people like you but I don't know what's ridiculous about it.

It's one letter in a sea of many from soldiers who have served voicing opposition and support for the war. The fact that it is Pat Tillman's brother gives it no more, or less credibility than any other. There's no need to spin it and I'd be shocked if Rove even knew it was out there.

At this point most people are firmly on one side or the other about Iraq. One letter isn't going to make any significant impact on anything. The fact that you honestly think there is actually a need for anyone to spin it is what's ridiculous. But then again no one ever accused the left of being deep thinkers. lmfao

If anyone ever did accuse them of being deep thinkers, they would defend themselves.

Did Pat Tillman spend time in Iraq as well? I know he was killed in Afganistan, but didn't know he served in Iraq.

His unit did spend time in Iraq before he was redeployed to Afghanistan.
One thing for sure is that Kevin Tillman is more articulate then younger brother Rich who had this to say at Pat's funeral...

Thanks Pat. [toasting him with a glass of Guiness beer] I didn't write s*it because I'm not a writer. I'm not just going to sit here and break down on you. But thanks for coming. Pat's a fu$$ing champion and always will be. Just make no mistake, he'd want me to say this: He's not with God. He's fu##ing dead. He's not religious. So, thanks for your thoughts, but he's fu**ing dead.

Guess he was too busy when his brother was a "living hero" to speak up.
