What's wrong with Jake Peavy?
his ERA was near 5 before the game tonight, and in the 1st inning we scored 4 off him and he was throwing 90-92. in his last 7 starts he's like 0-6 with a 5.77 ERA or something like that. i wonder if his shoulder is bad and they refuse to DL him because they're trying to win the division. who knows, but we know that something's wrong with him.

They aren't going to win the whole thing this year. Put him on the DL, maybe even shut him down for the rest of the year if needed. He is the Padres future, don't mortgage it just so he can pitch the rest of the year.

His fastball is usually in the 92-96 range. If its in 90-92, he probaly has a tired arm. He is still a young kid and they have been loading innings on his arm ever since he got called up. Shut him down for a few weeks.

Knowing Jake, I wouldn't be surprised if he's hiding an injury. He's ultra-competitive and as tough as they come, and I wouldn't be surprised if there's something wrong with him that he's not telling them about.

for sure. but if there is something wrong, don't you think the Padres are smart enough to force him to be evaluated?

I would think. I dunno...maybe he's not hurt, but how do you explain such a sudden loss of velocity for a young guy?

No clue on Teixeira. Also, what about Hank Blalock? A few years ago I thought he was going to be a stud, but he seems to have topped out as just a decent 3B.

yeah, blalock was average last year, yet he got off to a hot start this year and then fell back to last year's form. weird.
