Unbelievable....6 year old charged with felony...
6-Year-Old Fla. Girl Charged With Felony For Kicking Teacher's Aide

I agree that the girl should be punished, but how on earth can anyone justify charging this child with a felony? All she did was kick someone in the ankle.

Stupid schools! They should have just paddled the hell out of her and then she would think twice before kicking someone else. This liberalized view of discipline is a joke.

Exactly. Now that they've taken reasonable punishment out of the school, they're forced to the absurd. Especially for a special needs kid. Doesn't the aide realize this is part of the job?

What about this girl's "self esteem", aren't they worried about that anymore?

And what about the cost of all of this! Do we really wonder why government expenses are out of control?

BTW, I do think that "paddled the hell out of her" may add fuel to the fire of protests against corporal punishment.

It was for affect/effect. But I do think that paddling should be allowed in schools. Heck, when I was kid, I witnessed my parents giving the neighbors permission to "spank" me if was acting inappropriately.

Is that a good argument? Look how you turned out..... ;-)

The standard in my community (not just my family) was if you caught it in school, you caught again at home.

Of course that was back when the wagon trains still passed by my house. Now, if a teacher looks crosseyed at a kid, it is lawsuit time. Who do we thank for this change in attitude?

I agree it is stupidity, but i don't think it involves all parties. I think if you go back 30 or more years, it was the ACLU bringing cases to court that made corporal punishment too expensive for schools to continue.. Or maybe it was Pink Floyd. (TEACHER!!! Leave that kid alone!)

So far we have:

Hippies
The ACLU
Pink Floyd
Jimmy Hoffa

Someone start a poll: "Who is at fault for teachers and schools being afraid to discipline the students?"

A few more more candidates:

The French
Dr. Spock
Sesame Street
PETA
The VRWC

Well it depends on how you define "received". He used his vulvcan death grip to steal it, so I am not sure if that counts or not.

Another example of the failures of so-called "zero tolerance" policies.

zero tolerance=zero thinking
