I was piqued by your post in the Duke forum about Shelden Williams ... I thought he had been kicked off the MWC team altogether and had lost his skolly @ Duke.

Yeah, I guess they thought I was trying to stir up trouble, but that was a straight question. I really am hearing wispers from reliable sources. I can't quote 'em, though. It probably is just a rumor. We'll know in a few days.

Do you know why he was in trouble? He and several member of his all star team were accused of gang rape when playing at a tournament in .....I think it was Ohio. The charges were either dropped or not formally filed in the first place. The details were not released to the public. One of his teammates on that team and in high school was D. Alexander, a top fifty recruit in his own right, who signed with OU.

Over on James Hale's OU board there was something posted to the effect of that Williams is still going to leave for Duke sometime this week and take some summer school classes, so I guess I was mistaken about his status, and he will be a Dookie next season (url for the thread is http://citadel6.ezboard.com/fouinsiderfrm2.showMessage?topicID=3867.topic )

If I recall rightly, members of the Midwest City High School basketball team were partcipating in a tournament in Ohio a few months ago and, if I recall right, a coach or something walked in on certain "activity" taking place in a hotel room. The girl in question decided not to press charges, but two of the players involved were Williams and Alexander. I think they were suspended from the team, but I don't recall any more.

Sad to say, if he's playing for Duke I'm highly unlikely to root for his team anyway.

As for Williams, I don't care much one way or the other. I am rather ambivalent about Alexander. I'd like to give him the benefit of the doubt. Innocent until proven guilty and all that. Still, it makes me uneasy.

Do I know you?

I don't know ... but if you do know me I'd rather be let known privately instead of the forum. There's an e-mail link on my posts.
