This is my first foray into the spin room. I heard about it and I thought I'd give it a try.

My postion lies close to the middle but I would say that ® politicians are huge liars and would steal their own kids lunch money and (D) politicians rudderless and have very little skill, Nancy Pelosi as Minority house leader?

Here Goes: This room reminds me a lot of right wing radio. Just like those shows most topics start off with "Can you believe those liberals? Aren't they stupid!" Then you get a bunch of empty heads nodding in unison. Yep, Mega Dittos Rush!!!!

It has dawned on me that currently there really is no R or D. There are Bushists and anti-bushists. Lets face it, Bush is a big government, big brother lover who could care less about the Constitution and the separation of powers. Yet so-called "Conservatives" still like the guy. It's somewhat ridiculous. If you don't like his policies you are automatically labeled a "liberal". Whatever that means anymore.

Anyway, the real point of this post is to express my opinion that Bushists have nothing to complain about from the CSK funeral. How dare any of you Bushists say that people can't speak about relevant Civil Rights issues at a civil rights leaders funeral. To not have done so would have been cowardly. I'm sure that Jimmy Carter knew that MLK was wiretapped by Dems. It made his arguement that much stronger in that he was saying warantless wiretaps are wrong no matter what political party is doing it. Sounds like principal to me. The Reverend made comments that "Billions more for War, no more for the poor". Is this not true? Also, he is a civil rights advocate who's roots lie in the non-violence movement. This offends you people? Sounds like men who were standing up for what they believe in. What is so frightening about that? Also, what are the Bushists afraid of. How can it be that you are so afraid of the President being criticized? They've gone to great efforts to insulate GW from dissent. Why?

Please, I know this board is almost completely one sided and I'm sure I'll get labeled with some sort of name soon but just stop to think for a second about what I've said and make some relevant points about the substance. What do you think of the Bushist, anti-Bushist arguement? Why can't people speak about civil rights and current civil rights issues at a civil rights leaders funeral regrdless of the guest list?

Well, let's get the important stuff out of the way first - the labeling. Since you labeled a lot of people as empty heads and/or liars, and refer to us as "you people", I think you have little room to protest any label put on you. I suggest we label you "confused".

The Bush-AntiBush was about the only part of your rant that made sense. I think though it would be better characterized as AntiBush and NotAntiBush. The AntiBushists are definng themselves by being against anything Bush is for, and for anything Bush is against. A lot of them thought Social Security needed fixing until Bush had a proposal, then it was leave it alone. A lot of them thought there were WMDs in Iraq until Bush said it, then they started yelling Liar! As long as they let Bush define them, they are nothing. I think if Bush came out in favor of ice cream, they would immediately become anti-ice cream. "Ice cream is fine for those rich people who care nothing for the poor - we want to see every child in America have ice cream, not just the rich. We need to pass a law creating an agency to make sure that poor kids are not denied ice cream".

Talking about civil rights at a civil rights leader's funeral? You define talking civil rights too broadly Statements like "she fought for justice" - perfectly OK. Statements like "This administration doesn't care for the poor" - polical shlock that is out of place and in poor taste. Not the same. The first eulogies CSK - the latter ignores CSK in order to attack GWB. Even a "confused" person should see the difference. Go back to the Reverend's/Extorionist's statement you quoted - what did that have to do with CSK? That was pointed at GWB, period.

Welcome to the board - we need more people here, with more opinions, even if they are "confused".

How many times does that have to be explained?!

Everyone used to call into the show and waste a minute or two saying "Rush, I love listening to the show, so glad to get on the radio with you, etc. etc." until people started shortening it to "Dittos" so they could get on with it.

When you say "Dittos, Rush" you're saying "Ditto what everyone else has said." It has nothing to do with agreeing with what Rush says, it's agreeing with other callers!

But there are a bunch of empty heads nodding in unison -- the ones who listen to the people who claim that Rush is producing mind-numbed robots and BELIEVE that crap.

The Rush reference was due to the fact that this board is mostly a bunch of guys telling each other how right they are about everything. I consider people who don't listen to dissent and then come up with a label for them. Lableing makes it easier to not listen to someone. A feminist becomes a feminazi. Anyone who thinks global warming is human caused becomes an envirowacko.

Second, Bush is the president right now and he is cutting social programs for the poor while giving more tax breaks to the wealthy and to large already profitable corporations. That is a fact. His policies are impacting civil rights and the poor. People have every right to point these things out when he is in the room. They have a duty to point it out at a civil rights activists funeral. Anyway, since when are conservatives offended by things? I thought you guys hated political correctness. Now you want to use it as a tool? Wah Wah Cry Cry That guy insulted my president. Don't they know they can't do that. Didn't they sign the loyalty oath before he agreed to speak to them?
