Quote from Poohterp....

"Hey all... Lawrenceterp and buddies will be at our tailgate this weekend hosting a Survivor Party. I know, I know.. some of you think Survivor is the dumbest thing to ever hit TV, TRUST ME.. this game is FUN!!

We need 16 people to make it REALLY fun... who's in?? The game will start at 4 PM. Sign up now!!

For those that may have no idea what I'm talking about, you start off with two teams of 8 (I think that's how he's doing this one) and the two teams are given a 'challenge'.. whatever team wins, has immunity and the other team must vote off a member. As the numbers dwindle, the teams dissolve and it's everyone left against everyone left until we have ONE ultimate SURVIVOR.

It's freaking fun and there WILL be prizes!! "

And here is my little promotional spiel.....

I host Survivor Parties at my house. It always starts out a little tentatively. Mine and Libby's friends always agree to humor me and join the game. Then we have a challenge and someone gets voted out. Everyone gets a little more excited. Then someone else gets voted out. By the time we get to the third or fourth challenge, the backyard is in a complete state of craziness. Everyone is getting all competitive and pumped up. They start forming alliances, etc..... I put a lot of effort and thought into the challenges and planning. After the game is over, everyone is shocked that the game was so fun, and so professionally done. The people who didn't play, vow that they will play next time because they had so much fun watching it all go down. The events are growing so much that our next one will start off with 24 players spread out into 4 tribes of 6 people....and everyone is pitching in 5 dollars so the winner will have prize money. We have 3 females who bought "Beer Wench" t-shirts who will be serving beer the whole time. There are also 3 of us hosting because we need so much man power to pull it off. Only Pamela and Steven have been to one of the parties, so they can attest to how fun it is. That is why they wanted to have it at the tailgate. I'm tailoring the challenges to be fitting of a college atmosphere, and to college sports and tailgating. There will be drinking and eating and various other things. And the last thing to note....is that none of the challenges will be embarrassing or painful or disgusting. The point is to have fun. We're not giving out 1 million dollars to the winner, so there is no reason to force someone to eat cow intestines. Its all good stuff....sometimes difficult, but always fun.

OK....there's my pitch. I hope that we can get a lot of you out there. I promise you that it will be one of the best tailgates you've been to. Pamela and I are already working on the prizes and those are going to be great also!

Thanks and hope to see you guys there,
lawrenceterp

I know this pretty much only pertains to Maryland people, but I wanted to post it here and on the Maryland forum so that it has maximum chance of being seen.

You'd love them. As I said, they keep growing.....so I think that we might have a pretty cool thing on our hands soon. We're planning to do one every 3 months or so. Right now, we have 2 under our belts and we have 2 planned for the next 2 weekends. And.....we are doing a Fantasy Football Survivor that will last all year long. So, we will have 5 champions by the end of 2002. I have a web site for it, but I'm still working on it.

We have a silver minivan with a red strip. Hogie is usually parked next to us in a brown Ford Taurus. We are almost exactly halfway between Tawes and UMUC and we are aligned almost directly in front of the Front door to Tawes.. and between the two rows of lamp posts in Lot 1D.

Larry.. maybe we should have flaming lanterns!! <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="biggrin.gif" />

Pamela, we do have the tiki torches. But, I'm probably going to keep setup to a minimum. We'll need everything to go up and go down in a hurry.

SSJT.....please come out and join in!!!!!!!
