Sod Game Number 3 of the Year!

For the rest of the Country this is a "no-brainer"

But for those of us who have experienced it...Well,
As The Commanding Officer of Wake Island said
in his final radio message..."The Enemy Has
Landed...the issue is still in doubt!"

We are all agreed that Florida ain't what it was
supposed to be! Grossman will kill himself or
the Off Coord, before this season is over.

After that...FAMU, BC, Temple and UCONN.

Miami has weaknesses. They haven't been as effective at stopping the run even with their
awesome front seven. The reason, their DB's
are all new and don't support the run well.

Those DB's will be facing the finest corps of
receivers they've faced all year.

They will be playing a team who has equal talent
and speed.

They will be facing the most powerful offensive
line they have faced in three years.

Their QB can't run like Wallace and Simmons and
Ragone.

We will be the best balanced team they've played
in three years. We can throw it or run it.
So their practice time must be spent having
Safeties come up for run support and LB's dropping
back in pass coverage.

This ain't gonna be easy. They are number 1 for a
reason. But they have weaknesses! They just
haven't played anyone who was good enough to expose those weaknesses. Nor have they been in a dogfight.

How do they respond...or better yet, when the
weaknesses are exposed will they be as good as
people say they are.

They are a great football team, but they are not
unbeatable. We are strongest where they are weakest.

And that creates possiblities.

Predictions later...

A break or two here or there and who knows...They
may be on the first Coast Guard Cutter leaving
town!

You can't spell the word "scUM" without UM!

Miami rotates two defensive and two offensive lines in throughout the game. FSU is going to get tired like everyone else. Rix is going to get hit hard and early in that game. He’s going to start hearing footsteps and he’s going to make mistakes. When asked if his team is going to be ready on Saturday, Bowden said that he would be ready in 2 years. Miami is going to make the FSU defense eat #2 (McGahee) until they puke. Get used to seeing the back of his jersey as he slices the FSU defensive like a samurai with a vengeance. Dorsey has or will break pretty much every record at Quarter Back U. The receiving core is way better than anything FSU has seen this year. The running game at UM has been toted as the best that has ever been. Oh, and btw, this team is as good as the one that spanked FSU at Doke last season. Is your memory that short?

Obviously these are two different teams than they were last year. FSU is definitely better than they were last year....and Miami is about the same...although a little weaker in the secondary. I think Paul does make some valid arguments about this being the best team UM has faced up to this point. I really think Jones is a stud at RB. Jones averages a full yard more per carry than UF's Graham. I also think that their WRs are better than UF's as a whole, obviously UFs Jacobs has great numbers. The QB comparison with UF? Well....compared to last year...yes....Grossman is better. This year? Dude....I think Rix is much better this year. Look how Grossman played against UM and Ole Miss!! He looked terrible and has yet to have a good game this year! Rix's QB rating is 20 points higher than Grossmans (140 to 120) and Rix has 9 TDs and 4 INTs, Grossman has 10 and 10. Oh...Dorsey has a 151 rating with 14 TDs and 5 INTs. FSU averages 7 more points per game than UF and 70 yds more rushing the ball. UF does average about 40 yds more per game passing...but FSU makes up for this in the running game.

I guess to sum it up...I think FSU will put up a better fight than any of UM's previous oppenents. The team with the fewer Turnovers will win the game. I don't think FSU will commit 6 TOs this time. If FSU commits 1 or less TOs, I think they have an excellent chance at winning the game.

No prediction of the score from me....Oh..for the record...I'm not a fan of FSU or UM...just a neutral party.

Rocket,
You know I'm not biting on your turnover theory. Miami caused most of those turnovers, so you're theory is for naught. Let me assure you that Rix remembers the constant pounding he took last year. He's already going to be nervous, and after he gets pasted into the OB grass a couple of times, he's going to toss some more passes to our receivers

I don't have to tell you that home field makes a difference, and this time, its at our house

For an underdog team to win it will have to commit fewer turnovers than the other team. Think about last year....FSU had seven...count them seven possessions that they lost the ball, thus giving UM a short field to score from. Let's suppose FSU punted seven times instead....then UM would have had worse field position to score from. There is no conceiveable way that you can say that FSU could not have won last year if the punted the ball seven times instead of turned it over seven times. Turnovers also kill momentum...and momentum is a huge factor in footbal.....huge!

I will stand by my prediction.....1 turnover for FSU and the game will be very close. A new prediction....if FSU has zero turnovers.....FSU wins. Why do I say that? Because that means that FSU played a perfect game...and FSU will need to play a perfect game to win.

Rocket,
Yeah, I like your: if this, if that, and if this too theory. If Toledo could recruit some decent players, and if tey could get a real mascott, and if they didn't need a girl to kick for them, they may actually beat a Big East team... It comes down to the fact that because Miami was a better team, they created those Turnovers. If you remember that game, the picks Rix threw were not like the Grossman's picks from last Saturday. The UM D-Line and secondary created the turnovers. There is no reason to believe that this year is any different. If anything Rix has fewer people to throw to, which means easier to pick balls. If UM can contain the FSU running game, its over, and that's that. FSU will most likely get tired and flounder in the fourth quarter. Btw, shouldn't you be posting on the Penn State page? Joe Pa's got a big game this week. Shouldn't you be over there helping him find his Depends and his hearing aid?

I'm talking about FSU vs. UM and you bring Toledo and PSU into it?

There you go...trying to insult my school....just think.....5 years ago people used to laugh at Virginia Tech for this exact same reason.........they were building a program and there was no respect for them...and they were called the 'Hokies'. Well....look at the MAC this year and there are great teams there....Bowling Green, Toledo and Marshall........oh....Pittsburgh plays at Toledo next year......we'll see how good they are in our house!

As for JoPa....he is only a year older than Bobby Bowden.......

Let's say by some miracle, Florida State beats Miami... will you come back and post on our board? Will you be singing a different tune? I bet FSU put Dorsey in the grass too. 2002 - these aren't the same Noles as last year. And these aren't the same Canes as last year. But the rivalry is still there... always will be!!!

Go Noles!!!

TigerFreak,
I understand that you've come up with a prediction for the game on Sat according to which the Semenholes would score 45 points. I would be curious to know what makes you arrive at that conlusion. Have you studied some facts and figures that illude everyone else, or were you dropped on your head as a child? Perhaps you should change your nickname to TiggerFreak since you seem to live in a fantasy world.

This is going to be a great game and I won't be able to view it cause I get UCLA/Oregon but it's all good. Best of luck to both teams. I know it will be a dog fight and hopefully a close game.

Well, Miami didn't lose, you did write the comment above, so know what you're talking about before you try and tell me what I know and what I don't know.
