ok, some of my friends and I just rented the movie "O" b/c we love some of the people in it and it is supposed to be based on Shakespeare's "Othello"-- and I have to say that this movie is one of the most disturbing ones that I have ever seen...I dont want to ruin it for any of you that may not have seen it yet...but basically someone is led to take certain actions based on information (false information) that they are fed by someone that they THINK is trustworthy.... and it leaves me really wondering.....who can we REALLY trust to have our best interests at heart and who is really there just to drag us down. When it all comes down to it-- who would REALLY stick by you.....sorry-- this movie REALLY left a mark!!! lol

I still want to see O.

It has hoops in it, I think (isn't the Othello character a stud baller?)

O sounds like a great film. It can't possibly be nearly as disturbing as Freddy Got Fingered (which I had the misfortune of suffering through thanks to my neighbor).

O was really sad in the end, but overall I thought it was a great movie.

Yeah-- there is a run for the prep school championship during the movie-- and the betrayal involves teammates-- and YES-- the character "O" is definitely worth watching!!! You may like it-- I just found it to be VERY heavy and depressing-- and I can't get over the ending-- I just can't believe it....

It's the kind of movie that as a male you sit there and think "WOW, I can't believe that guy's friend was such an ******* " and as a female you sit there and think..."I don't want to be left alone with a guy for the next year!!!" (I am speaking for the ones I just saw the movie with of course)-- Nate may feel different since he liked it... lol-- thanks Terpy I feel MUCH better now!! lol

Othello is totally about the worst of human nature.

If its done right, Shakespeare lends itself okay to modern adaptation. Othello to O was obviously really good. Taming of the Shrew was adapted to a fairly good (actually, a *really* good) teen comedy a few years back called 10 Things I Hate About You (which, like O, boasts Julia Stiles in the cast -- she was absolutely the best thing about that film. She's supposed to really good in O too).

No such props for that Romeo and Juliet adaptation that had Claire Danes and Leonardo DiCaprio. Ugh.
