clemens does not deserve to start over schmidt. This sucks. The least McKeon could do -if he isn't going to start schmidt- is to start sheets.

<a href='http://slate.msn.com/id/2103760/' target='_blank'>Check this editorial on Clemens out.</a>

This is what passes for journalism these days? Oh well at least it's kinda funny.

did you ever find out that Schmidt chose not to pitch? Had he chosen to, he very well might have gotten the start...

That's what people are saying but I think Clemens is too smart for that crap.

that's not right. Schmidt wanted to pitch. It was magowan (sp?) who made sure schmidt didn't pitch. But that wasn't even my point. There were a few pitchers who deserved the nod over clemens.

I think you could find some other candidates to fill in for Roger, but honestly, when can't you find replacements for someone in an all-star game? There's always snubs with people that deserved to make the team that don't get in.

Quote:"We'll see," said Schmidt. "I'll talk to [NL manager] Jack McKeon about it. We want to play it smart. I would love to pitch in it, but honestly I don't know if I will. I don't know if it's the smart thing to do."

Remember the Sunday before he threw 120 plus pitches...

Doesn't sound like he really wanted to pitch in this game to me.

he was the one who said he wanted to. he's just repeating his owner's sentiments in that quote.

FS, the All Star game is about who the people want to see. Plain and simple.

Which is why the home-field advantage thing is an awful idea.
