This was a nightmare game for the Braves, except for the fact that they won and took over sole possesion of first place.
First it was Chipper...He fouled a ball off his shin (if you remember, that's the same way that Jermaine Dye broke his leg in the ALDS last season). He had to leave the game - it's being called a deep calf bruise. He's expected to miss 2-3 games.
Then it was Andruw. He too fouled a ball off his leg, but with treatment was able to stay in.
Finally, the worst news of all...trying to beat out a grounder, Marcus Giles leaped up and around the Galarraga at first and severely rolled his ankle when he came down. If you remember Jason Kendall snapping his ankle in 2000 - that's what Giles' injury reminded me of. Early reports say he'll miss at least 2-3 weeks.
We've already lost BJ Surhoff (Tar Heel) and Mark DeRosa. We can't afford to lose Giles and/or Chipper for any length of time.
John Schuerholz better get on the phone to Richmond and get some AAA players sent to Atlanta fast.

It's a loooooooooong season. As long as everyone is healthy by the playoffs (and we make the playoffs), then that's all that matters....

Chipper came in and pinched-hit last night...he hit one deep to left, but it was caught at the track
