North Carolina's Bosley Allen, the Tar Heels' best receiver and returner, will miss eight to 12 weeks with a broken bone in his right foot. Allen, who caught 39 passes last year as a junior, will have surgery Thursday to repair his fifth metatarsal. He broke the bone while running a pass route in Monday's practice. "As Bosley said to me, 'If it wasn't for bad luck, I'd have no luck at all,' " UNC coach John Bunting told the Raliegh News & Observer.
The injury occured in Allen's first practice back with the Tar Heels after serving a suspension. Allen was suspended from UNC's win over Auburn in the Peach Bowl for violating team rules. In February, he was stopped for speeding in February in Durham and subsequently charged with driving with a suspended license and supplying a police officer with false information. Those charges were later cleared up.
"It's just a doggone shame," Bunting told the News & Observer. "He was just making a cut. It's a bone that can break frequently because it's on the outside of your foot. He'll be fine. He'll just have to work that much harder to get back."
Bunting hopes to have Allen at full speed when preseason practice begins in August.

Hate that this had to happen, but now is a lot better than during preseason practice or the season.
And -- who knows -- this might be good. If Boz works hard and recovers, then it might prove to Bunting and the rest of the team that he's serious about this team.
