CHICAGO -- The Chicago Blackhawks look to extend their season-high unbeaten streak to nine games Sunday night when they host the Detroit Red Wings.

Chicago is 5-0-3 during the run, which is its longest since a nine-game unbeaten streak from December 17, 1995 to January 2, 1996.

The Blackhawks are also 8-1-4 in their last 13 games and trail Detroit by seven points in the Central Division.

On Saturday, Chicago settled for a 3-3 tie at Nashville. Andrei Nikolishin, Kyle Calder and Sergei Berezin tallied as the Blackhawks scored three unanswered goals before defenseman Jason York beat Jocelyn Thibault with a wrist shot with 3:38 left in the third period.

When Chicago failed to score again, Thibault missed a chance to become the first goaltender to reach 20 wins.

Despite outshooting the Phoenix Coyotes, 41-27, the Red Wings had a nine-game unbeaten streak snapped with a 4-1 loss on Friday. It was the first time in eight games they allowed four goals and fourth time overall.

The Red Wings, who lost for just the second time in 16 games (10-2-4), played without defenseman and former Blackhawk Chris Chelios, who is listed as questionable with a leg injury.

Sean Avery netted the lone goal for Detroit, which went 0-for-3 on the power play and was held to one goal for the seventh time this year.

Chicago is 6-3-2 vs. Detroit in the last 11 meetings. The Blackhawks took this season's first meeting as Thibault stopped 18 shots in a 2-0 win at Joe Louis Arena.

Thibault is 9-10-0 in 19 career games vs. the Red Wings.
