We lost to Utah that year. I watched the game in the Dean Dome....

Shammond was ice cold from the field. Mottola had a career game down low for the Utes. If we'd had Haywood in any of his other seasons -- or even Kris Lang -- it would have been a different story....

More happy memories:

FSU at Carolina basketball, 1993: This is the game where Sam Cassell ate crow. The year before, the Noles had beaten us in the Dean Dome and Cassell deemed us a "wine and cheese crowd." In this game, FSU was up by as many as 21 and by 19 with nine minutes left. My parents wouldn't let me watch TV on a school night back then, so I was upstairs in my room listening to my radio as we started to come back. When we had the deficit down to three or so, I raced downstairs to watch the rest with my dad. It was an amazing comeback....

I wasnt alive at this time, but you guys dont think I'd let you forget about the 1972 Maryland vs UNC game at Maryland in which MD stunned the 3rd Ranked Tarheels 79-77 in OT.

1994 Women's Championship Game. What a great finish! Down two, Hatchell goes for it all - Sampson fakes along the baseline, pulling 3 defenders - inbounds pass over the top to Charlotte Smith, for Threeee! We Win! Barmore and the Lady Techsters are stunned. A great moment for an often overlooked program.

I was about 15 rows up at center court for that game. Sitting next to Pat Summit. She thought UNC would win the game. Of course, she could not stand Barmore. What a shot...
