alright guys here is a discussion starter...

where does this year's freshman class rank all-time, in terms of the hype?

now i didnt really start following the heels until The Great Mr. Cota was a freshman, so I really think this class has had the most hype, at least since i've been watching, but where do they rank all-time?...

well i haven't really been watching recruiting when i was younger but the the class with ed cota jamison, and vince would be tough to beat. Although felton and mccants are prime time players. I would go with vince jamison (im not spelling it right) and cota over this upcoming class, although vince wasn't a super star in college.

There are some good classes out there for them to contend with. Truth is, there is no way to know because we haven't seen them play a college game yet.

Right now, I'd have to say that Montross's class or Antawn's class are up at the top.

Okay, now Mr. Ben has informed me that we are talking about hype alone here.

I'd have to think that this class is more hyped simply because of the times we are in. Nowadays, recruiting is huge and the web is out there for folks to hype it up even more.

Antawn came out of nowhere to shine as a freshman. Vince was hyped, but only by those that follow recruiting closely at the time.

This class is well-known by Tar Heels and opposing fans alike.

I remember getting the Poop Sheet years ago. It was a great source of information about ACC recruiting. Montross class was very well regarded. If they were coming in today the hype would be unreal. Back then you did not have the net to follow recruitment day to day. You had a select few publications and one loud mouth. Vitale. I remember when he first started on TV he was loud, but he also would give you information on kids comings and goings. He was a valuable source of information.

As far as impact on the whole program, the class that included Rusty Clark, Bill Bunting, Larry Miller, et al. may have been the most important. Let's see was that 1965 or 66?
