A guy in Nashville today was arrested for breaking thru police lines to go save his dog from his burning apartment. Police tried to keep him back while his dog was just going to burn to death, and they were successful at holding him back for a while. But I guess this guy couldn't stand by and just watch this, so he busted thru them, jumped up on his second story apartment balcony, busted the window, and saved his dog. Keep in mind, the stupid-a$$ police weren't doing anything about it either, just holding people back while the damn place burned down.

And now they are pressing charges on this guy???? WTF???? What am I missing here? Good Gawd!!! What the hell is this world coming to, where you can't even save your own dog from burning to death.

The funny thing is.....it took the dog-owner a mere two or three minutes to save him. Thanks, police! Yeah, this guy deserves life imprisonment!

This shouldn't be a surprise. Tennessee cops also blasted that NC (?)family's dog on the interstate after the family repeatedly asked the cop to shut the car door so that it wouldn't get out.

Pathetic!

For once, I say get the PETA in involved. Those fools know a good lawsuit when they see one. I hope they sue Tennessee's finest for everything they're worth.

Here's the story. It was actually the Cookeville PD, but it is still a black eye on our police force.

One of the jobs of the police is to protect the safety of the people. If they thought that the burning building was unstable or unsafe for humans to enter, they are entitled to restrict people from entering, even the owner. Say that they did let the man go in, and the building collapsed on him, then they would get sued either way for not doing their job. And please don't get PETA in it. Its just a bunch of idiots that need their 15 minutes of fame. I haven't read the article but this is how I see it.

Just want to clarify.....I stated that this happened today and I was wrong, this happened last week. It is just now making national news....my bad, but it doesn't change the story. :)

I'm sure in this case the police were trying to protect human life. I understand it's "their job." But, damn, I wouldn't been just like the dog's owner and bustin heads to get to our Petey & Rascal-as soon as I knew Boy & Girl were safe.

That is just a sickening question. But that's the media for you. You know the sad thing about all this? As loyal as dogs are, that dog would've gladly died in that fire so his owner wouldn't have had to go thru this mess.

what human life were they protecting? the firemen were not in danger as they were not trying to save the dog. they were standing far away looking at the home owner doing their jobs.

he didnt bust heads-he asked them to save his pet. they said in a minute, he waited 45 mins. then decided to save his dog because they were not.

it is not a crime to save a beloved pet-it is a crime to watch them burn to death.

T-Monay is right... exactly right...

Had the building burned down on top of the man... we would be sitting right here bitching that the police didn't stop him from a hazardous situation. They were faced with the choice... have just the dog die... or risk having them both die... take the first.

Hindsight is 20/20...

It's easy to look back and say "well obviously he would have saved the dog". What if the building had collapsed?

20 bucks says you would be starting a thread about how the police should have stopped him from going in there!

My goodness... first it was military personnel... now it's the cops... some people are just flat out ingrates. Learn some respect for the people who suit up everyday so your life can be better. 05-nono

I'm damn glad your opinions aren't what is enforced.

The building didn't fall down... at the time of the decision... no one knew... they just knew that the building was severely damaged and could fall down.

You obviously don't understand the law. Of course the guy can do what he wants... technically... but you have to enforce the law regardless of circumstance... In other words... you are going to base whether or not to arrest him on whether or not the building falls down?

Sorry... but I prefer sticking to the law. It's all about setting standards... people have to take the law seriously... if he wasn't arrested... the next schmuck in his situation will disobey the law. You have to draw the line... and draw it firmly.
