As a man who likes to have a beer or two every now and then, I will not sit here and judge McNair for driving intoxicated. I'm not proud of it, but I have done it before in my younger life. The man made a mistake, we all make 'em. I forgive him. As for the gun, well we all possess one, or at least most of us do. A man of his stature probably feels the need to carry, and I don't blame him. But carrying and drinking does not make a good combination. This is his first offense, and I will dismiss it as such. If it continues, which I doubt it will, then I will acknowledge a problem.
I've met McNair, as well as many other Titans while living in Nashville, and I can tell you they are a good group of guys, and this is a rarity with the Titans. Steve made a judgement error, and I am almost certain he won't make another.
Had this been a story where Steve Mc was drinking and driving and actually killed someone, I might be singing another tune. I understand what can happen while drinking under the influence, so people will probably be more willing to forgive since he only damaged his rep, and not a human being. Hopefully, he will learn from this mistake and not make the same one twice. He's got my support.
