Sergei Federov becomes an unrestricted free agent if the Red Wings don't sign him by the end of June. Detroit offered him something like $10 Million for 4 years and he turned it down because he wants a 6 or 7 year contract. What do you think will happen?

I think Detroit might offer his requested 6 year contract, but he may sign for fewer years because he wants to compete for a cup. It will also depend on how much the Red Wings need/want him with their already talent-loaded team.

They probably will resign him but they shouldn't, when they resigned him before he came back and played with little or no heart, for a player like him who had practically no heart at all it affected his performance a great deal. I don't want to hear about how Scotty underutilized him. Personally I hope the Dead wings resign him because the "Tin man" is a perfect fit for those high-priced prima donnas in Detroit.

How can you say it affected his game? He led the Red Wings in points, and usually you want to resign the guy that does that. He's got a couple of years left in him, and when I checked his stats he's put up consistant numbers. I'd take him in a heartbeat if I were a GM.

I don't have it in front of me, but when he signed that huge contract several years back, he dropped off the point radar. Don't get me wrong Federov has talent, he just doesn't have heart.
