Armando Benitez is still in New York, only now it's as a Yankee.
The Mets sent the All-Star RP to the Yankees for two minor leaguers.
Benitez was 3-3 with a 3.10 ERA and 21 saves in 28 chances.
He will likely be a setup man to closer Mariano Rivera.

This is a head scratcher for me. Kind of like the recent Urbina trade. Benitez still has some gas in the tank....seems like both guys should have went somewhere they could get some saves.

BWAHAHAHA This will be the post season death of the Yankees esp. if Rivera gets hurt. Benitez has to be one of the worst post season pitchers ever. BWAHAHA Die Yankees Die! :chair:

He's not your typical Yankee. The guy needs to prove he can pitch in a big spot.

He cant. BWAHAHAHAAH!!!
This is seriously like the best baseball related news I have heard in a long time. I hate the Mets with a passion too but Im lovin Armando Benitez to the Yanks. Am I the only who is pissed about the Fox people thinking that everyone in America should care about "the subway series"?? Give me a break, I couldnt care less about that Bullsh*t. Sorry I realize the Subway series was a month ago but I just really hate it...

Yeah, and I'm pissed that we have to watch either the Yanks or Mets every Saturday it seems on Fox. I can understand the Yankees, but I'm tired of seeing the last place Mets in Fox's game of the week (even worse when I have to listen to Buck and McCarver).

I know what you mean, it was the same damn thing last year. GET IT THROUGH YOUR HEAD THE METS ARE AWFUL NOBODY WANTS TO SEE THEM PLAY. I guess they figure people in New York and the area of whatever team they are playing will watch and I guess that gets enough ratings to justify it. But Casual baseball fans dont want to see a down right horrible team play every week.

After all of this, the fact remains that if Rivera doesn't get hurt, the Yankees upgraded the bullpen. The Mets are the black hole of Calcutta, anyone who goes there loses his skills. Maybe getting away from Shea is what benitez needed.

True. I don't think Fox wants to accept that the Mets stink.
