Everything I heard was that Murray was a shoe-in for the job.

why is this such a great move? Mazzilli has never done anything. In fact i hear is not to bright. it seems like they're picking up a guy from brooklyn, hoping to get the next Joe torre. I don't know how you guys can say this is an excellent move. Being first base coach doesn't mean you can be a manager, even if it was with the Yankees.

Please shutup. Mazzilli is a respected coach and he was very successful at the minor league level. His succcess at the minor league level leads me to believe that he will do very well with the Orioes relatively young team.
I believe that Mike Flanagan and Jim Beattie know a heck of a lot more about baseball than you do.
You know absolutely nothing about Mazilli and to say that he was hired in a lame attempt to pick the next Joe Torre out of Brooklyn is downright childish.

that was totally unfair. I never said that hiring mazzilli was a bad move, i just said how does everyone know that it is an excellent move. Mazzilli might be a genius but we don't know for sure. Having success at the minor league level definitely doesn't make me believe he's a genius. If your team provides you with a great lot of players from a recent draft, you can win a lot of games, or you can have a lot of old veterans. Take the Durham Bulls for instance. They are filled with guys who have played a few years in the majors and are usually referred to as quadruple A players. The Durham Bulls win a lot of games with guys like Chris Truby playing third.
Again, i'm not saying hiring Mazzilli was a bad move, but i don't think we have any reason to believe it's an excellent move.
These black coaches really do have something to gripe about. If Mazzilli was hired how come Willie Randolph wasn't?

it's ok, i was just wondering why everyone is jumping on the mazzilli bandwagon. There have been plenty of successful minor league coaches who have bombed in the pros.
