what exactly happens in game in which there is a rain delay in the middle of the game, like in the padres red sox game in 6th inning. Not just a delay, i mean if the game can't be completed that day.

Correct me if im wrong but I think if its after the 6th inning and it cancelled due to rain, the score up to then becomes the final for the game

1 inning off Uzian, it's after the 5th, all games are considered official, unless the home team is ahead, then 4 1/2 innings is deamed official

if its before then, the game is played from the beginning, all stats lost...

That would suck to have a no-hitter through 5 and have to start over!

so say ken griffey jr. hits his 500th HR in the first inning, and then rain comes in the 3rd inning and the game isnt finished, is his HR taken away?

as a matter of fact, I found the page a couple of days ago... has 4-5 lists of wierd things that have happened in baseball, like hidden ball tricks, lost homeruns, stange and unusual, etc...

<a href='http://www.retrosheet.org/lists.htm' target='_blank'>http://www.retrosheet.org/lists.htm</a>

and check out one of the lost homeruns...

Quote:9/6/1996: Ken Griffey Jr. homered off Jack McDowell at Jacobs Field in Cleveland. The blast came in the first inning but was rained out. Griffey finished the year with 49 homers.

he'd be sitting at 499 right now if that game had been played out...
