Lots of juicy topics in this thread...

Drugs: There are about 101 reasons why drugs (at least the softer stuff) should be legalized. To begin with, snorting/smoking crap into one's own body and risking harm is an individual's own choice, as long as they are responsible for their own actions thereof. The funding for the War on Drugs would be slashed, saving money. Selling weed, "Amersterdam-style" and taxing it would create a lot of money, and possibly fund the health-related problems these 'users' would have (i.e. they'd pay for their own health insurance from their own drug purchases). Prison space will be cleared of dope smokers, saving money. Police officers lives will be saved, since the danger of busting into dumpy houses looking for a bag of grass would be a thing of the past. List goes on and on...

Capital punishment: Who is this "we" who decides who lives and who dies in a situation totally unrelated to our respective lives? I believe capital punishment should be legal, but the ultimate decision (if convicted as such) should be the victim's next of kin, not a jury of twelve nor a judge. In klutzdio's case of his uncle getting killed ... if his uncle's murderer was convicted and the door was 'left open' to death, only his uncle's family should decide between prison or death for the killer, not me or anyone else.

Christians: BTW, klutzdio, I know you may just be trying to be over-the-top and exaggerate, but your 'death-loving Christians' post is among the most bigoted I've ever seen on a message board. But then again, it's usually the trait of a collectivist to categorize people in such a way. Besides, didn't you read that the Pope and most other leaders of Christian-based religious organizations were outspoken against the Iraq War?

Taliban: While I also question our involvement in Iraq, and have always leaned toward the 'we shouldn't have gotten involved' side, the Taliban was certainly a proven and direct threat to our freedom. Their leadership was sponsored and funded by an organization that killed thousands of innocent Americans from the African Embassies to WTC 1991 to USS Cole to WTC 2001, not to mention people lighting shoes on planes and attempting other attacks that have likely been snuffed out. In turn, the Taliban provided a safe haven home-base to well-funded thugs training and planning more attacks.

And while many are dismayed with Bush's bravado in Iraq and his unilaterlism, those of you in the Dean camp oughta realize that Dr. Howard sent a memo to Pres. Clinton in 1998, asking him to bypass the UN and start bombing Serbia (was Milosevic a threat to the US in any way?) unilaterally right way.

Republicrats.

Are you denying that xians love death?

Go into any Catholic church and you'll see a cruxifix. Their God had to die to save them and they are commemorating the event by placing a cruxifix in every church. What do you think small children think of that? Mommy says don't watch violent music, but at Church and catechism, we always talk about Jesus dying, in brutal fashion, beaten before his death, and on and on. Old Testament stuff is worse, David vs. goliath in a knock-down drag out fight pro-wrestling style, Abraham being ordered to kill his son and then god says, "uh...that was just a test.."

Christians of any denomination, for the most part, are always talking about death and how they need to live right in order to be dead right (heaven).

Yeah, there's some good christians out there, Motown. I've only met three or four out of 100,000 or so in my lifetime.

Christians are death obsessed. Convince me that I'm wrong on this!

Never try and teach a pig to whistle, it wastes your time and annoys the pig.
