The Raptors beat the Hornets 78-74 in overtime. It seems like those low scoring struggles happen all the time now. There are only 4-5 teams that play a run and gun style anymore. I'd much rather see a Kings/Mavs type game with both teams in scoring in the 120s.

I think a lot of it probably has to do with the zone, if you cant shoot you arent going to score much against a good zone.

Low scoring college games can still be fun to watch, but in the NBA it really sucks because it is so much one on one. No one wants to watch someone use up the shot clock trying to break a guy down and then just throw up a brick.

thank you. Finally someone made that point. i'd tried to tell someone this and he said the NBA wasn't at all a one on one game. I also talked about how the zone ruins the game and he said it didn't.

The zone was designed to take away one on one basketball, but it has not done that. I can enjoy all NBA games cause I can appreciate the talent on the floor, all five guys can play. The Kings are easily the most enoyable team to watch, as are the Sonics. These games happen in the East.

The reason you see so many low scoring games is because no one can shoot the ball anymore. These guys are great athletes who can leap out of the gym, but they can't hit a jumper to save their lives. All they want to do is throw down tomahawk dunks and get on Sportscenter.

I've got no problem with the zone -- it's one of a the few instances of teamwork that you see out there (when it's used well, that is).

Scoring, high scoring -- I don't really give a flip. I just want to see a team effort.

And, you just don't see that much with the NBA anymore. That's why I don't like the NBA now....

How many people can't shoot the ball anymore, besides guys that are there for passing and rebounding? There are certainly great shooters in the NBA. Could the reason be great defense? I think it definitely could.

I agree that there are still some. But you just don't see very many great shooters in the NBA anymore.

Defenders are just more athletic now. It is much tougher to score now than it was 20 years ago.

i read this interesting article a while back: the main point was scoring is down b/c there is less space on the court, since defenders are bigger they should maybe widen the court by a foot on each side
