Mississippi's ambassador to the United States, T. Rent Lott, said he welcomed a serious dialogue with the United States government about returning Mississippi to Mississippians. Lott pointed out that before the invasion and occupation of Mississippi, that country was one of the wealthiest of the States of North America. He further pointed out that no serious discussion about ending the occupation of Mississippi could avoid the issue of reparations to Mississippi and Her citizens for the many atrocities committed by the United States government.
