Well, vague antecedents aside, I'd like to qualify my vote "against the white man."
This country used skin color to unfairly discriminate against dark-skinned people (I don't believe in the concept of "Race") for hundreds of years.
We can't just expect taking away the "Colored Only" signs and boarding up the bathrooms around back will change this. Racism is, by definition, institutional.
The alleged quota systems which are the stuff of urban legends mostly do not exist. AA was put in place to make administrations aware of the hegemony of fair-skin nepotism and therefore committed to more diversity based upon skin color.
That doesn't mean that unqualified dark-skinned men are being promoted over qualified white men.
It just means that our businesses, schools and churches should reflect the diversity of this country. Period.
Think about this before you fire off a silly response. How many dark-skinned people have you ever worked for?
I'm 35 and I can think of three.
One was a manager at Hardee's.
One was the vice-principal at Kosciusko High School (the first dark-skinned principal in their history, btw, and a woman to boot. She's now the principal there).
One was an assistant manager at Verizon Wireless.
If anything, I'd say this meager sample represented a vast improvement over the fair-skinned bosses I've had.
Thus, affirmative action works.
Just stop with the "poor me" pity party, y'all. You have to be a leftie in order to whine with authority.
