I'm pretty sure we haven't discussed this, and i don't know why we wouldn't.

This is such a breach of the 1st amendment. if you don't want god to bless you, that's your choice. there is no way saying 'god bless' can be offensive to anyone.

Hmm... it's a sad day when forcing people to be P.C. has started stepping on the toes of the Constitution.

i don't like it when people feel the need to say "god" instead of God. Just a little pet peeve i suppose. anyway, i couldn't agree more, that is completely ridiculous.....

From my favorite band, Pillar: INDIVISIBLE

"For all the people in the world that don't understand
Exactly what it is we have here in this motherland
See the Father's hand started up a master plan
There's been many through the test of time take a stand
But had they ran who knows where we would be now
I thank God it's something I don't have to think about
Instead my thoughts are on the ones who laid it on the line

KIA gave their lives to let freedom shine
But in the meantime I think of those of your kind
And wonder how it is you get things so messed up inside your mind
Just think a second how long it's been going on before you
They're the one's who even helped you have the right to argue

Stop complaining move along
Open your eyes and see what's going on
We need to get back to the ways of the days of old
One nation under God indivisible

Chorus
All the people let me hear you give a holler
In God we trust, In God we trust
We stamp it on our penny, nickel, dime, quarter, dollar
In God we trust, In God we trust
The people of the nation let me hear you give a holler
In God we trust, In God we trust
We stamp it on our penny, nickel, dime, quarter, dollar
In God we trust, In God we trust

The other day I saw the news somebody else complaining
They want the motto taken off of the Benjamin Franklin
They got a problem with my God and that I believe in it
But the don't got a problem with the money when they spend it
They're so offended by 4 words that need no explanation
In GOD we trust the motto of this greatest nation
Not just a motto but something that we truly believe
If you don't like it you can pack a bag and you can leave

One nation under God indivisible
You can't take back that, that was never yours"

That is really sad. He's a senior in high school and he gets suspended for a month because he says "God bless". What has America come to? Look at the reasons this country was founded and what was intended compared to today. There is a totally different meaning between what "Seperation of Church and State" was founded for and what today's meaning of it is.

This is total BS! I bet you if he had said, "Allah bless" he'd still be broadcasting. The only reason any attention was raised was because Christianity is the source of all evil. The notion of "Seperation of Church and State" is a false, liberal made-up clause that doesn't exist in any founding documents.

i don't think seperation of church and state is made up. there should be SCS to a degree. For instance if a school tried to force you to pray, that would be a bad thing.

none at all. that says it all. It's freedom OF religion, NOT freedom FROM religion.

Separation of Church and State first found its way into official documents circa 1842 when the Know-Nothing Party made its official charter. This was a regional party (Northeast states) that applauded everthing that was naturally "American" meaning they favored citizens who were born American over those who recently got off of a boat. Oh yeah, the considered native Americans (like Indians to be really non-PC) to be similar to squirrels or rats.
Anyway, this party coincided with a wave of immigration from Ireland, Eastern Europe and France. All very Catholic countries. And, since the Know-Nothings hated Catholics (they were strongly protestant) they formed a platform that called for the unflinching separation of Church and State as the ultimate preserver of American Democracy and personal freedom.

The Know-Nothings were far from liberal, actually they were quite autocratic in their other positions.

I think one thing America does need is FREEDOM FROM RELIGION because I get sick of that crap. Then again, I do avoid being around religious people so it isn't that much of a big deal. Whenever I do go to North MS to see family, friends and townsfolk always try to convert me and I just tell them I love SATAN! That really focks with em!

but if you get rid of Freedom OF religion, than it's not America anymore. A true America couldn't have freedom From religion.

I know where you're coming from though. I'm sick of religion too, but you just have to tolerate it, because if i have the freedom to diss religion, then they have the freedom to practice it.

Swoosh,

It is my right to be free of religious influences just like it is the Christains' right to shove the bible in my face and beat me over the head with it.

Hey man, I didn't say get rid of religion, but those churches should pay taxes. They are, afterall, a business and some of which make seven, eight figures a year!

The really, really REAL Christians don't proselytize. They realize that showing pride in their faith is sinful!

But, as long as the friggen Christains run this country, we'll always be killing people overseas! :chair:

i totally agree that it's your right to be free of religious influences. I'm in the same boat, because i'm a deist, and i very much dislike religion.

by the way, what does proselytize, mean?
