Sounds like God's a killer!

That's why he loves Marines--because they kill everything they see! 04-bow

Rebelkev, I am not an atheist. To make such a claim you are saying I have faith. I have no faith. I am an agnostic, there is a difference.

When have I EVER advocated the murder of thousands of innocent civilians? You are a moron Nate.
IRAQ... ISRAEL/PALESTINE... POTENTIALLY NUKING THE REST OF THE WORLD.
No, the mass murders in Iraq stopped you dumbarse. Israel deserves to protect themselves. God HAS ordered tribes and cities taken out. Your point?
Hey buddy... do you have any idea what the 1st covenant was? What the 2nd is? God ordered blah blah blah... all of that crap has been fulfilled through Christ. Any idiot knows that.

No I'm not!

I'm closer to Plato.
You're closer to Christ than Kev and Thomas are, I know that for sure.

Just like to make a public declaration that 30 year old military member Kev knows more theology than 63 year old Stanley Hauerwas who has spent his entire life studying the Bible, teaching it, being labeled "best theologian", giving the Gifford lectures etc...

You are one impressive guy Kev! 04-bow

Well nate, the whole idea behind the military is "do it because I say do it" and after that is drilled into their heads, those dudes walk and run head first into 50 calibre bullets!

They then apply the similar credo "it is so because I say it is so.." to everything in the civilian world.

I know this because that sums up my uncle (former USMC officer) in a nutshell. He's right because he says he's right and everyone else is wrong~!

How about this... Do a google search for "Stanley Hauerwas Christian" and then "RebelKev Christian"... see how many hits you get.

That presents a serious contradiction to Christianity too... I'm too tired and lazy to go into it, but I agree.

There are three types of Christians in the US.

1. Those who have a personal relationship with God, Jesus, and the holy spirit. Their lives are better because of it, and they are a positive influence and society.

2. Those who are not as close as those in #1, but try and live their lives in a Christ like way with #1 being their goal.

3. Those who claim themselves Christian, but are full of crap.

I consider myself under #2, trying to understand more about God and life hoping that I will someday get a full grasp of the love God feels for us.

However, as Nate and Hauerwas have correctly said, probably 80% of the US population is in category three. How do we know? Many are present in the US government right now and are running this country in a way far from what God intended. That is not judgement. That is reading God's will, looking up at society, and seeing no similarities whatsoever.

Well, anyone who claims to be #1 is full of it (catch 22)... but I would also put myself under #2...

And to that last paragraph... AMEN! AMEN! AMEN!

We'll let God decide that. Until I reach the pearly gates and St. Peter tells me to turn around, you can keep you mouth shut on whether I'm a Christian or not.

BTW, my uncle was one of the most religious men I have ever known, and thanks in part to him, you're not speaking Japanese right now.

You and Kev talk like I care SOOOOO much about my survival. Well damn it... I would much sooner die than I would kill or see someone killed... Osama Bin Laden, Saddam or Stanley Hauerwas regardless.
