Or are there a lot of really bad teams out there these days? I don't mean just bad teams. I'm talking terrible. I was looking at my Street and Smith's baseball magazine a couple of nights ago, and when I really look closely at a lot of teams rosters, they just have nothing. I don't think there's ever been a season where the have's and have not's have been this sharply defined.

Just my 2 cents.

i disagree. Each division has at least 2 teams that can compete. With some divsions having 3 or maybe 4.

I definitely agree there are some good teams. My point was there are a lot of really bad teams. Teams like Detroit, Milwaukee, Cincinatti, Pittsburgh, Tampa Bay, the Mets. Usually there's only 2 or 3 really bad teams. I think there could be about 6 or 7 this year.

the mets aren't going to be bad. they're gonna be .500. If you look at it like this; the mets are going to be contenders in 2 years, the tigers are building a team, so are the pirates and the d-rays are building an awesome team. Cincinatti and milwaukee are hopeless.

I'm not talking about how good these teams will be in 2 or 3 years. I'm talking about this year.

Mets... .500? Doubt it.

i was just showing that they might be bad this year, but that doesn't mean there's no competitive balacne, because these teams will be good in a couple years.

The mets have great up the middle defense. Two 25-30 homer threats in Piazza and floyd, maybe the best center fielder in baseball, jason phillips, and a dedent third baseman. Also, they have glavine, leiter, trachsel.

Maybe. But Piazza and Floyd are question marks because of their health. If they stay healthy, the Mets will be better, but will they? Also, Glavine, Leiter and Traschel aren't getting any younger.

I agree that the Mets are a decent team. They could finish third in the division if things go right.

It's possible. But the Braves, Marlins and Phillies are way better, IMO.

i know that glavine, leiter and trachsel are old, but leiter and trahsel were really good last year. Also, i forgot about jae seo. He had a 3.82 ERA last year. This guy can pitch.

Yeah, I like Seo. I watched him 4 of 5 times last year. He looked impressive. The Mets didn't give him any runs to work with or he would have won more games.

He should win more games this year if Piazza and Floyd are healthy.
