Mr. Arnold Palmer, a man of charisma, immense ability, and a great sense of competition played his last Masters golf tournament today. This was his 50th appearance at the Augusta National Golf Course for the Masters tournament. He will be missed. I only hope that he does take the offer to become a fixture to the ANGC and be the honorary starter for the Masters. Godspeed Mr. Palmer, you will be missed. Your name and your legacy is the epitome of professional golf.

It brought a tear to my eye and I never thought that would happen watching the end of a career of a sports figure. He credited his entire career to the fans. He lost his wife a couple of years ago. There's no way we can understand how someone deals with their life coming to an end. He's 74 years old. Everytime I think of golf I think of the big 3, Mr. Palmer with 4 green jackets, Jack with 6, and the first int'l player to win, Gary Player with 3....the Big Three is what they are called. Yes, I look at people like Tiger, but these guys are the ones that made Golf a major sport. Jack may also be retiring.

not true. he was very influential, but he wasn't a sports figure, because he never played a sport.
