Since it's inevitable that Kerry will win this November. A 42-42 poll is reallt a 58-42 poll because 90% of undecideds go with the challenger. What are we going to do with this mess?

You better flee to Canada, and if you have any kids in the public school system, take them with you! Kerry will enact laws that require all child-bearing aged schoolchildren to have abortions, performed in public, in the schoolyard.

He'll also make every school aged child sign a pact with the devil.

He'll steal all of the money from the federal treasury and send it to his accountants where they'll learn how to make more ketchup.

Gay people will be running loose in the streets, marrying members of their sex all over the place.

The stock market will crash.

The Federal gov. will take all the money in your bank account so they can give it to single mothers. I mean, how can single mothers buy crack without YOUR money?

Torture chambers and concentration camps will be set up all over the land to torture Americans, while the torture chambers set up in Iraq will be torn down.

Hillary will take up permanent residence in the White House.

The members of the current junta will all be exiled to Pebble Beach, condemned to a life of golf.

Texas will be nuked.

Instead of initiating legislation in the U.S. Congress, Kerry will send it all to the French Parlaiment.

Basically, the short answer is:

Anarchy will ensue!!

Most of those polls are based on like 1000 probable voters, hardly a diverse and accurate overall picture of our nations voters.

First off, since people all over the world can vote in that poll, how accurate is it? Also, since it IS CNN and most conservatives think CNN is left-leaning and biased, what do you think the percentage of people that visit that site are also left-leaning?

The Commander-in-Thief has a 41% approval rating. Tonight's speech will possibly give him a temporary spike before he heads for a new historic low. Face it, the guy is a total buffoon and has surrounded himself with criminals who have sold out our country.

And speaking of buffoons, CNN, in their continuing quest to spread the liberal agenda, brought out ultraliberal evil genius Joe Lieberman as the counterpoint to Bush's speech. Can someone please just get Alf on the phone so those two can reunite?

It's a weird statistical reality that surveying 1,000 people can get you down to a decent margin of error (+/- 3 percent) with a 95 percent confidence level now matter how large the universe.*

That assumes the sample is truly random. That's no small issue these days, with (a) more and more people moving to unlisted cell phone numbers and (b) people increasingly reluctant to be bothered at home.

But most of the major polls are sound. Look how closely they track, as in this graph:

* If there are any social scientists in the house, go ahead and correct me. I'm kind of guessing that 1,000 yields a 3 percent margin with a 95 percent confidence level. I haven't looked it up.

Wouldn't the polls for each network track closely because each polls from the same pool of registered voters?

Regardless of the poll, cell phone #s are not available, thus leaving out a large portion of the population.

From what I remember about Statistics 101, 1,000 is not a representative sample.

Anyway, poll the electoral votes, i.e. the states that will go one way or the other.

BTW, prez said nothing of substance tonight, just as expected. It was "look how great of a job we're doing...we're great...Iraq will be great...boo on insurgents....they love totalitarianism."

What exactly is John Kerry's plan?

I'd like an honest answer. Not looking for sarcasm today.

"In the lead-up to the Iraq war and its later conduct, I saw, at a minimum, true dereliction, negligence, and irresponsibility; at worst, lying, incompetence and corruption. False rationales as a justification; a flawed strategy; lack of planning; the unnecessary alienation of our allies; the underestimation of the task; the unnecessary distraction from real threats; and the unbearable strain dumped on our overstretched military, all of these caused me to speak out. I did it before the war as a caution, and as an attempt to voice concern over situations I knew would be dangers, where the outcomes would likely mean real harm to our nation's interests. I was called a traitor and turncoat by Pentagon officials. The personal attacks are painful … but the photos of the casualties I see every day in the papers and on TV convince me not to shrink from the obligation to speak the truth."
-Gen. Anthony Zinni

Bush's plan, as outlined in very broad terms, seems to be to stay the course.

Did anyone see Zinni on Hannitty and Colmes? He wrote a book with Clancy the ultra conservative and you could tell neither was happy with Bush or his neocon chickenhawk buddies. I've never understood how most military guys could stomach Wolfowitz and his crowd. They've high jacked foreign policy. Well when Tom Clancy says he would probably vote for Bush you know your in trouble. The emperor has no clothes! Does anyone remember after the Florida fiasco when Bush's intellect came into question everyone was praising the great people he surrounded himself with and this would see him through. Now look at Haliburton Dicky, Stomp on the bill of rights Donny, and Chickenhawk Paulie to see where a C student who goes on his guts will get us. PATHETIC!!!!!! Along with all the sheep who follow the Republican Party line.
A new day will be here in November and believe me that day peace friendly nations around the world will rejoice. W's actions has made us more vulnerable to terrorism and led the world into a darker place. I wonder if the Republicans are going to put the effort they did in 2000 of getting the military votes in by absantee ballots? That will be interesting. After bashing W and his failed and miserable policies we do have an amazing military who sacrifices are immeasurable. God Bless the brave men and women serving this wonderful country of ours.

Just read John Kerry's plan for Iraq. Sounds like a great start to me. Quite different from ole Rummy's plan of attack last year. I'd bet a dollar we won't be seeing Rummy getting the face time on TV he's accostomed to. Could one person with a Republican lean please give an honest comment on our lack of foreign diplomacy. Do you THINK we might have lost some standing in the world? Remeber the old Europe comment? What a fool.
