He rejected a deal that would have made him the highest paid tight end in NFL history and asked for more money. This guy is building quite a reputation.

He just doesn't wanna play in Cleveland. He will be traded ASAP IMO. Maybe Cleveland will get an OL or two. That would be a very worthy trade as Winslow is the kind of character that brings the whole team down, if he even cares about team.

No, I'd say he's self-centered because he was offered a contract that would make him the highest paid tight end in the NFL WITHOUT PLAYING A DOWN, yet that was rejected as if it were an insult.
What he and agents don't care about (thus being self-centered) is that in the NFL, if you sign a player to a huge contract you have to still be under the cap. So, if your tight-end is your higest paid player, where do you make up the difference? Having a crappy line? Or a poor defense? You know a good QB and LT are going to cost you. So he and his agent want to handcuff the team because being the highest paid tight end just isn't good enough.
If I were the Browns, I'd do the same thing, "Hey Kellen, the contract is on the table. Sign it or don't."

Maybe, he just doesn't want to play for the Stains, I can't blame him for that.

I can understand how you wouldn't think he's a *******, after all, your teams starting TE is Shockey. Winslow has been a ******* since his college career, and he seriously thinks he's the greatest TE in the history of the NFL, and thus deserves the largest contract in history? Please. Yeah, he's good, but not that good.

if the guy seriously thinks he's worth being the highest paid tight end ever, then i say more power to him. Let me put it this way. this is the most bargaining power he will ever have in his life, why shouldn't he use it to his advantage? If the Browns didn't want this kind of trouble they shouldnt've drafted him.
Also, what's wrong with shockey? Sure he's been a bit raucous at times, but he hasn't done anything seriously wrong.

i say more power to him, for using this edge. The browns are the loser's here. if they didn't want to handcuff their team, they shouldnt've drafted winslow.

i'm not trying to act all dreamy, and philosophical. i'm just saying that, the word greedy can't be used properly in any situation.

I'd agree if they were trying to low-ball him. Again, the fact that he was already offered a contract that would make him THE RICHEST TIGHTEND IN FOOTBALL, and the fact that it wasn't good enough says to me that this man (or his agent...or both) is out of his mind.
What the hell are you talking about with the "greedy doesn't apply to anything" stuff?
greedy-Excessively desirous of acquiring or possessing, especially wishing to possess more than what one needs or deserves.
Now, professional sports has to be looked upon in relative terms (because you could say that anyone who makes alot of money is 'greedy', by definition, but I am looking at this in the "NFL World)...for a tightend to be offered more money than the best, NFL-proven tightend, reject it and want more...that's greedy. To handcuff your team from being able to compete in future seasons when no one is sure how good you are...that's greedy. Again, I don't begrudge Winslow making what he can. But at the same time, I don't begrudge the Browns wanting to actually run their franchise (and not players and agents). And I hate the Browns...so it puts me in an uncomfortable position to feel like I'm defending them. In fact, I hope Winslow breaks them for years to come...but it sets up a bad situation for all future rookie negotiations. And I don't want the NFL to become MLB or NBA.

what is one's share? who is to determine what my share is, or what your share is, or what winslow's share is? and what is "excessively desiring wealth..." mean?
If winslow believes the contract presented to him is an insult, then he has every right to use this as an advantage.

What your saying is that it's we can't be descriptive about anyone unless we all agree on that description.
Who can determine if someone is "mean"? Or "nice"? Or "ugly"? Or "attractive"? If I say someone isn't attractive and you think they are attractive, does that change your definition of what is attractive? Or does it mean we can't call anyone attractive?
If I say Kellen Winslow is greedy because he wants to gobble up a large portion of his team's salary cap (thus making the team operate at a competitve disadvantage), than I say he's taking more than his 'fair' share. Now you can say that all of that doesn't matter...life is in a vacuum and you shouldn't worry about the implications of your actions and only worry about the here and now and get everything you can (training camp and practice be damned), and that's your opinion. But it doesn't change that I think he's just being a greedy S.O.B. We're not talking about a guy making $10/hr doing back breaking work...we're talking about a guy who's going to sign a contract for an estimated $40-$50 million with incentives trying to get $7 million more in bonus money than the guy picked in front of him.
Kellen Winslow is greedy
