My tribe is only 3 games back in the A.L. Central and 3.5 back of the wildcard...
I thought this could happen, but never thought it actually would... Knew the offense had to do something for any like this to happen and they lead the league, maybe the majors in runs scored... Our bullpen is coming around since the return of Wickman... Now maybe time for the starting rotation to come back around... Lee has thrown more pitches than ever in his career and I think it's starting to show, I don't know if he's getting tired or if the leagues catching up on him...
3 games behind Minnesota and the next 2 weekend series are against Minnesota... Very important series...
It should be an exciting finish in the A.L. Central

If they make the playoffs, watch out. With a rotation of Sabathia, Lee and Westbrook and a great lineup, they could be tough. But the bullpen...

honestly gdawgs, right now the bullpen is pitching pretty solid since the return of Wickman... I found a note for you... As of lately, if the starter gets it to Howry with the lead in the 8th, Howry and Wickman have shut them down... The only question will be if they can keep it up...
Quote:In their last 19 games, the Indians have seen their bullpen post a 3.46 ERA in 65 innings of work. In the last seven games, the bullpen has a 2.53 ERA.
Howry has been moved to the setup role, and Betancourt, Miller, and Risky (I know how you actually spell his name) have been used as needed per situation... I wouldn't be surprised if they give Scott Stewart one more chance, he has saved 5 games in his last 10 appearences without giving up any runs. If in fact he's turned it around, that would be another solid lefty for situational pitching, but AAA and MLB are 2 different worlds!
to JFlight...
Boone was supposed to be in there this week or next, but had some swelling in his knee which set him back a little bit, but I've seen him taking infield during the pregame shows... maybe another couple weeks...

Yeah, I saw that Howry had like a 1.38 ERA in the box score the other day. Maybe he can become the pitcher he was in '99 with the White Sox. As for Wickman, well, he's had all kinds of arm problems, but when he's healthy he's a big upgrade over Jimenez. I also think David Riske is going to be a big boost for the Tribe in the last couple of months. He never looked comfortable as the closer, but he has great stuff and can be a very nice setup man.

Indians took two of three this weekend.
I still like the Twins to win this division, but the Indians are turning into one of the most fun teams to watch this season.

down to the wire... 7 of their last 10 games are against the Twinkies... sandwiching the Royals 3 game series. Could be an exciting end of the season...

if cliff lee, doesn't turn it around, they're not going anywhere. a 5.10 ERA isn't going to cut it.
On the other hand, my giants are the wild card at the moment.

I don't think there's anything wrong with him, I think he's worn out. This is the longest he's gone in a season, he's got to be wearing down... Maybe they should bring up another pitcher and give Cliff a break. You're right, Cliff's pitching has gone down the tubes as of late, like the last 5 or 6 starts...

based on % points... the cubs have 1 less win and one less loss, but have the same winning %...

something about having to score runs?? who would have thunk it... I think they've left the bats in the clubhouse... It's still hard for me to say the season is over with 7 games left to play with the Twins, but we need to kick this funk and get back to playing some ball in a hurry or it won't matter!!
