Quote:Dole told CNN's "Late Edition" that he warned Kerry months ago about going "too far" and that the Democrat may have himself to blame for the current situation, in which polls show him losing support among veterans.
"One day he's saying that we were shooting civilians, cutting off their ears, cutting off their heads, throwing away his medals or his ribbons," Dole said. "The next day he's standing there, 'I want to be president because I'm a Vietnam veteran.' Maybe he should apologize to all the other 2.5 million veterans who served. He wasn't the only one in Vietnam," said Dole, whose World War II wounds left him without the use of his right arm.

Bob Dole's awards were questioned in the election of '96. What the "F" makes John Kerry so damn off limits? I know; I am sure many others know, but the ones that won't admit it are the libs.

What I can't believe is that here, in the 2004 election, the biggest news story this summer involves who did what in Vietnam 30+ years ago.

hmmm, I'm no brain surgeon, but maybe that's because......HE BROUGHT IT UP. He has YET to say ANYTHING about his dismal senate record; he brings up his service record, WHICH, has not been fully disclosed. They tried it with Bush, Bush released all. They did it with Kerry, he released what he wanted you to hear. I, as a combat Vet, WILL call Kerry a POS for what he said after he came back and his 3 PH's he received for superficial wounds. People have lost arms for those....he gets a piece of shrapnel in his arm due to his own dumb*** shooting an M-79 20MM grenade launcher(Now an M-203 mounted under an M-16, trust me, I carried one for years) into a gravel berm.
Tell me Schad, Dogger, etc., why the "F" is HIS opinion as a vet worth more than others? IMO, his statements about THOSE people negate his entire BS. He was there 4.5 effin months. ...and Bush Effed up today. He should have said, "I am the President, not a dictator. I neither condone nor support any ad such as this" and left it alone. Stupid move by him. The Swiftvets are NOT a damn front of the Bush campaign. You Libs want to say a Republican gave them 150K, well, DERRRRR, did you EXPECT a damn Democrat to give a donation?
Hey Libs, wanna compare dollar signs for 527's?????? You will LOSE!

I think Tulsaman was just joking. Bob Dole is sometimes seen as someone who speaks of himself in the third person (see Norm McDonald in the old SNL skits).
And I know that Kerry brought up Vietnam (ad nauseum) at the convention. But that war is brought up every election. Who served, who fought where, who "dodged", etc. I admire those who served, and, at the same time, I don't blame those who didn't want to go.
This isn't a partisan thing. It's just interesting how the Vietnam spector still makes such a splash 30 years after it ended.

Again, Kerry brought it up, therefore he opened himself up for controversy. Those of us who have served in combat do NOT like people that claim to be a hero when they weren't, Ie. he stated in his Biography that 4 boats fled while his stayed when in FACT HE was the one that fled as the 3 boat was incapacitated and the other 3 stayed to help. Contradictory? Ya think? How about he also, and all other vets concur, that he came back and picked Rassman up. Kinda negates his BS about the other 4 leaving, don't it? Screw Kerry's record in Vietnam. How about his record when he came bacK? First off, I do NOT believe that he deserved ANY of those purple hearts as he was NEVER incapacitated. I was hurt MANY times in the military, I never got one nor did I WANT one. One of his was due to his own dumb*** fault. I don't know about the other two and I wasn't there. He was there 4.5 ****ing months and comes back to speak about Vietnam with the authority he THOUGHT he had about the servicemembers that were there who served no less than a year....unless they were hurt and it DAMN sure wasn't the BS Kerry received....? "F" John Kerry. Akin to Genghis Khan???? Again, **** JOHN KERRY!!!!! That summubitch has his pic in a museum in North Vietnam for his help with the war....FOR NORTH VIETNAM! He was/IS a ******* traitor.
You Liberals, Schad, etc., think that his opinion as a vet, only matters. He was there 4 ****ing months. **** him.
