Yes, Navy has a good ground game, because that's all they EVER do.

They've played NC State and Duke. That's all I know for sure, but State is very good.

Also, you claimed he was "sucking at Duke now" or something to that effect, which is WRONG. He is doing a GREAT job here, and every Duke fan I know is very happy with him.

I pointed our your hypocrisy AFTER I made my post.

Why do I know that it's our defense? Because we haven't given them **** on the ground this year, ANYONE! Anything anyone has gotten this year has gone air, and our CBs have sucked since 1994.

Roof doesn't suck, he's a LB coach at a LB university and he's doing very well.

BTW, we held Navy's offensive machine (no this isn't irony). to 17 points. Candeto, their QB, himself averaged 14 points a game!

Roof is not sucking it up here, however you slice it.

hey, if you like him, that's fine with me...you had no where to go but up.
but have you played anyone this year with a legit power ground game so far, not just a team with good ground stats, but with good ground stats against legit competition?
that's not smack, i'm just curious to know..

and when we had roof, we had about the worst d in the league, ground, air, you name it...we won by outscoring our opponents, not by stopping their offense. and we did have a lot of legit defensive talent....on the field.

tenuta is doing a lot more with it than roof aver did.....

i just bring that up because our starting qb , SUGGS, looked just terrific against vandy and uconn, but stunk up the field against clemson and byu, and only showed some improvement after being benched in favor of bilbo, who immediatly drove for a TD.
so roofs' success is better measured if you have played a team that has proved it can move the ball substantially on the ground against a good defense, not just a bad one.
and as you are the duke fan, you would better know your opponents stats against opposing teams than i would...

I have a question.

Can FSU move the ball on the ground? Louisville?

Both of them KILLED us in the air, not the ground. In fact, we outrushed FSU, IIRC.

if you can throw the ball at will, there's no need to run it....
i watched the fsu/cards, and it looked like that QB for louisville could run OR pass at will....., so either he's terrific (very possibly) or fsu is not that great at stopping the pass EITHER (possibly) or both.
but the fact you yourself say they both KILLED you in the air implies a running game wasn't even necessary; not that roof had a great plan to stop the run....
not talking smack here, ok?
just discussing FB between 2 relatively well informed, passionate fans...

Ragone and Rix both are very capable runners. The thing is, when they played Duke, they weren't getting their typical scramble yards, and Greg Jones wasn't getting his normal yards either. So... they went pass-pass-pass for the rest of the game and that really hurt us.

Like I said, Duke has awful CBs, and no DC would change that.
