Burning the American Flag does NOT tell me that you are protesting the inauguration of President Bush, but protesting AMERICA. I know that I'll probably take some abuse for this, but I just can't stand this. I think it's a disgrace and very disrespectful. I know that there are many that will say that it's just a response to all the other disgraceful and disrespectful things done by the administration, but I just don't think it's right.

I don't think the Klan should be able to have a parade, however they have the right to a non-violent protest. We don't have to like it.

Yeah they have the right to do it, but to me either this guy IS protesting America, or or doesn't really know what he's protesting. I guess if you don't like America, nobody is keeping you here so I don't understand why they don't leave. You can burn American flags in other countries.

I think your point makes sense. A protest like this really doesn't serve either side, IMO.

I think that burning the flag should be illegal. Its desecration of a sacred symbol, just like killing a bald eagle is illegal.

The only problem with making "flag burning" illegal, is that the proper way to dispose of an American Flag is by burning it. In fact, my children's elementary school turned over two of their worn out flags to my son's cub scout troop, and we had a flag burning ceremony in my back yard.
Now, it was done respectfully and tastefully.
As for the idiots protesting by burning "THE FLAG", it should be a law that they must be wearing the flag at the time it is set on fire. Then I say it is OK if they want to burn "THE FLAG".

Flag code is real strict. Technically you can't wear the flag. That goes for Bono and Kid Rock, technically. but not many people know or follow flag code. The flag should always be aloft and free. That means you can't have people open a giant flag during pregame at football games because the people holding it off the ground are framing it and it is not aloft and free.

Part one, I see that, but there are always exceptions to the rules. Just like Native Americans have exception to own bald eagle feathers because they use them respectfully.
Second, I like the idea of allowing them to burn the flag as long as they are wearing it. I bet we would see a whole lot less burning.
