This is crazy. You now need a passport to visit Canada and Mexico, if you're a US citizen.

You never have in the past. Do you have any linkage?

Just heard about it today. By 2008, we'll need a passport to return from Canada and Mexico (not necessarily required to enter those countries, but you'll need 'em to come home).

This is a crock. My best friend is from Kitchener-Waterloo, ON. He teaches near Augusta, is married to an Augustan, and lives in Augusta. Now he's going to have to get a passport to get back in after going home for Christmas and his parents will have to get one before coming here to visit?

Here's an idea.....WHY NOT JUST ENFORCE THE DAMN LAWS ALREADY IN THE BOOKS! Maybe I'm overreacting, but this is a bit ridiculous. You don't realize the BS he's having to go through to get a permanent green card. He went to college right here in Augusta on a baseball scholarship and teaches our kids. It's not exactly like Georgia is a haven for teachers.

What is the big deal? Doesent everybody already have a passport? If not go to the drug store, have them take a passport photo. Go to the post office, get the form and mail it in. The whole thing only takes a couple of weeks and makes travel much easier. As far as traveling in Canada, they dont ask for anything, quite frankly it is a little scary going through their airports. The place is still a terrorist paradise.

A passport cost about $80 bucks plus it takes a month to get. You can expedite the service for a higher price. To me it's ridiculous. Canada's tourism is gonna take a big hit. Mexico too. All in the name of security.

And they think this will stop terrorism!!!!!  What fools we are! All they have to do is run the border in Mexico or Canada and they will be here! NO PROBLEM!!! This terrorism angle is so overplayed and quite frankly the powers that be need to get their act straight. If someone is planning on doing something they will not be crossing a legitimate border crossing.
