No, I don't really trust Reitsma in the playoffs. He's never closed in the playoffs so you don't know what he's going to do. But you'll never know until you see him do it, and he may be a guy who pitches well with more pressure. You just don't know.

How can you say Foster, Boyer and Brower aren't good pitchers? Boyer has a 1.93 ERA, Foster's is under 3.00, and Brower's in around 2 since we picked him up. Speaking of Brower, did you see him glare across at the Giants dugout after he mowed the Giants down 1-2-3 last night? You know he was just thinking to himself, "How do you like me now, Giants?" Man, that was awesome! 04-rock

mowing down the giants is nothing to celebrate about. we are god awful. our lineup is like the angels triple A lineup. as for those other guys, bullpen ERA means nothing. boyer is definitely not a good pitcher. have you seen what jay witasick has done this year? he's a mediocre pitcher, yet has great stats.

I don't know how you can say Boyer isn't a good pitcher. He has very good stuff, and the Braves have always been high on him. He was getting hit hard at Mississippi as a starter, then they moved him to the bullpen and he was lights-out. Then since we've called him up all he's done is continue to put up zeros. He and Brower really solidified our bullpen.

brower is such a bum. his stats are better with you guys, because he isn't in as many high pressure situations. he's got nothing.

What are you talking about? He's pitched the 7th or 8th inning when we're tied or are winning a close game in just about every one of his appearances. What do you mean he's not in as many high-pressure situations? Was he closing in SF? No.

He's pitching well because he's got a good arm and he's working with Leo Mazzone. His stuff has looked just fine.

If his arm is shot why is he getting people out?

Maybe your team screwed up releasing him?

w/e you say. he definitely needed to be realeased. maybe leo has worked a miracle, but somehow i doubt it. it doesn't really matter, you guys won't make the WS anyway, so this is a moot pt.

I don't see how you can say bullpen ERA means nothing! Late in the game is when you need to shut the other team down. And if you let up a run in your 1 inning, your ERA skyrockets. You gotta rock it out for those few innings you're in in order to keep a good ERA. sub 3 ERA coming from the bullpen is kick ***.

what i meant was that it's of not much of an indicator of how a reliever is doing.

The bottom line is he pitched his butt off for San Francisco last year. He was by far your best reliever and you gave up on him not even halfway through the season. But, I'm glad the Giants made such a bad decision, because it's helped us a lot.

BTW, I think we have a great shot at the World Series. No one can match Smoltz, Hudson and Hampton at the top of a rotation.

he was awesome last year. felipe blew out his arm, and he sucked in the 1st half for us. he needed to be realeased. can other teams match your bullpen? the cards and cubs can both match your starters.

Our rotation, when healthy, is the best in baseball. However we don't have the lineup to match St. Louis, which is why they're the team that I think will win the NL.

Why should I care about the Cubs' rotation? They're not going to be in the playoffs. Houston, now they scare me. The Cards and Astros are the two teams I think could beat the Braves in the playoffs out of the NL.

While I haven't lost hope, the Yankees are really making it harder on themselves...

Like Bermann said last night... games with Mike and Randy are must wins...

Last night with Mike on the mound they didn't get that done... :bang:

3 out in the wildcard, 3.5 in the East. It can still happen... [Image: pray-cat-large.jpg]

Starting to lose hope for the Yankees...the A's are hotter than Carmen Electra and I don't think they're good enough to overtake Boston in the East. But, I've gotta stick to my prediction.
