maybe we both won't mak the playoffs, but at least we both have ROY candidates. Davies, Ellison and Niekro.

Yeah, I think Davies has a good shot now that Barmes is going to be out for him.
Ellison's a great looking young player. Reminds me a lot of Chuck Thomas with the Braves last year, and obviously I'm a big Lance Niekro fan because he's related to Knucksie.

If we can tread water until we get some of the walking wounded back, we have a chance. Hard to win when you have guys like Chipper, Estrada, Thomson and Hampton hurt, plus no power and no closer.

Our only hope is to be within seven or eight games of first place when all those guys come back. If we can stay that close, maybe we can go on a run and get back on top. But, for that to happen, the Nationals and Phillies have to remember how to lose again.

I think the Nats will fall off. I just don't see this team sticking around when the trade deadline comes. The Phillies will make a move...but the best bet is Florida and the Braves. As much as it looks dim right now, remember last year. It was us and the Phillies back and forth..but the Phillies never last.

We're about to lose 2 out of 3 at home to Oakland. Another disgusting series. We had a shot until that stiff Bernero comes in and gets lit up like a christmas tree. Have I mentioned how much I hate our bullpen?
There's no getting around it: if we do not make a major shakeup with the bullpen, we will finish 15 games out.

If we win it this year, it will make last year look like a cakewalk. We were 6.5 back in late June, yes, but at least we had a halfway competent bullpen, and no one in the division was any good. All of the other four teams in the division this year are better than anyone in the division last year. Hampton and Thomson coming back will help, but they can't save our bullpen.
