I was never a Frankie Valli fan, but I always loved "Can't Take My Eyes off of You". It's a crime that it never reached #1 on billboard. Too many people were on drugs back in 1967.
I love this 2020 version (ILY by Surf Mesa) based on the original. I think it retains the soul of Valli's. Emilee Flood's voice is perfect for this song, even if this version is light on lyrics.

I love the Ramones. They were my favorite band in the late 70's and early 80's. I'm old. I saw their last concert in Texas at Lollapalooza in Dallas at Old Fort Dallas back in 1996. Sadly, within a year of that show Joey died.
Did Social Distortion open there too on that tour? By that time the Ramones were pretty bad onstage, at least Joey was, and Mike Ness and Social D blew them off it, literally.

No. Social D was not on the tour that year, but I saw them in concert later that year at the Abyss in Houston. Great venue for shows. Now, Rancid was on the main stage and they were great.
Metallica and Soundgarden were the heavy hitters that year, with Soundgarden stealing the show. They preformed an unforgetable rendition of Black Hole Sun at dusk. The sky was this odd hue and there was a very comfortable cool breeze after a long hot day. It was an eerie experience. Too bad it was in the days before phones took videos. I wish it were on Youtube.
Wu Tang Clan was also on the main stage, but didn't really impress me. Sponge and the Melvins were on the side stage and were really good.
This song is completely underrated and from the music to lyrics is truly one of the greatest songs of the 1980's. Very hard to believe 1982 was almost 40 years ago. Time flies.

Always liked this song. Here is the original version by Bruce Woolley from 1979. Thomas Dolby (She Blinded me with Science) is on the keyboards.
Another interesting fact is that Geoffrey Downes the keyboardist for the Buggles went on to be a founding member of Asia. One of my favorite bands of the early 80's.
I'm a little late posting my video for today. I went to the theater to see Casablanca. Just a great older movie. Casablanca has some great standards too.
Tonight I went with Vice City... The "Clean Version". You can look up the "Unclean" version if you choose.
