Went through The Eminem Show and The Slim Shady LP a few days ago... man I love me sold Em.
*****
Binged on amazon.com too much so my first wave of packages has arrived:
Everlast: The Life Acoustic
--On a whim I got his last album and liked it and I had taken a break after his 4th solo album because I wasn't feeling it so I had passed on future releases.... I changed my tune and got this one fairly reasonable. I kind of dig its style.
Nirvana: Bleach 20th Anniversary Ed.
--Never owned this one or heard a lot of songs off of it but I do have Nevermind, In Utero, Insecticide, Unplugged, and Muddy Banks..... I'm not one to say Nirvana was the greatest ever like some from my generation for when they broke out as a new band but I do like a lot of their material.
Def Leppard: Mirror Ball Live & More and CD Box Set V3 ( X, Yeah!, Songs from the Sparkle Lounge, B Sides, Yeah! II, and Yeah! Live)
--These sets they have been doing have been the best way for me to get "newer" Def Leppard on the cheap...so while I am not the biggest fan of their post Hysteria sound I can enjoy the newer material on the cheap.
Korn: Follow the Leader and Issues
--(had these on cdrs for the longest but I found them for $5 ea so.... and basically I got their first four albums for $5 ea... other two aren't in yet. I think up through Issues is their best eram and while I like some material after that era I think they haven't returned to form till their last 2 releases....
Evanesence: The Bitter Truth
--Just found out a few days ago they had a new album out this year. I have always like Amy Lee's vocals and their brand of metal.
Eminem: The Slim Shady LP Expanded Edition
--Had the album on cdr for the longest time but I saw this on the cheap so I now have it at original quality.
Staind: Dysfunction
--I really liked Staind's material but again, I found a cheap way to upgrade from the old cdr I had of it so I decided to get it. I have some of their other early works on the way as well.
Remember when this was just hyperbole? Well, the "father" screaming trying to impose his dictatorial authority sure reminds of what is going on from today's "leaders" on the tv news....but, you know, We (the People)'re NOT Gonna Take it Anymore! Oh, the flippin' irony of it all...
Artist: Twisted Sister
Album: Stay Hungry
Anthem: "We're NOT Gonna Take It Anymore!"
Songwritter: Dee Snyder
April 27, 1984 Atlantic Records
I can say I like Nirvana but don't love them. I think there was always a reason I never got the album before Nevermind... and after listening to this, I think I have thoughts why the two above statements are true. First off, musically I do like their sound--the raw guitar, bass, and drums makes for a unique sound...but its Kurt's vocals that when clean to decent raspy sounding make songs sound better but when he gets into screeching and whaling mode... the songs kind of get the turn off vibe. I must say they did a good job on remastering the audio as I can tell how clean, crisp, and deep the music is on this and in the reviews on Amazon they made mention of how much better the sounds were mastered on the 20th A edition versus the original pressing. In just remembering song titles and listening, I guess they put back out a few songs from the orignal album on later albums (Insecticide?) to kind of get them in the ear of the public when riding that train of Nevermind's success.
Gerald John Granelli (December 30, 1940 – July 20, 2021) was an American-born Canadian jazz drummer. Jerry Granelli was the last surviving member of the original group led by Vince Guaraldi that played the the soundtrack for the iconic television broadcast A Charlie Brown Christmas back in 1969. In He was best known for playing drums on the soundtrack A Charlie Brown Christmas with the Vince Guaraldi Trio. Granelli recorded and toured with the Vince Guaraldi Trio during the 1960s, appearing on Vince Guaraldi, Bola Sete and Friends and A Charlie Brown Christmas. Granelli was only paid $120 for the recording session of A Charlie Brown Christmas, and never received any royalties from the television special or its soundtrack. The soundtrack went on to become a triple-platinum award winning album. Granelli toured jazz festivals and holiday venues with his one-man show Tales of a Charlie Brown Christmas, which retells the three-hour recording session in 1965 that culminated in the timeless Christmas classic.

Jerry also played with the eccentric singer/pianist Mose Allison, whose wry twists on the blues Granelli had the pleasure of accompanying for nearly 40 years:
He got to play with two of the absolute all-time modern jazz greats. Well-done.

Yeah! Studio Covers --Really good and they did some pretty varied artists considering their own sound.
Yeah! Live -- decent.
This cd is pretty good.
Overall, with this set
I came away very impressed with later Def Leppard material. I think I am still partial to Hysteria and earlier era for jams, but the new stuff isn't as bad as I was thinking it might be... shame on me for giving up on them based on how Adrenalize came off.
So, I was feeling in the mood for some Korn after all that Def Leppard LOL.... and since I had gotten in their earlier works I have gone through:
What a debut....
Darn good follow up... That cover of Wicked, found ADIDAS amusing, cover of Lowrider was EPIC....
What an epic album.... not a bad track on it and honestly, it could make my T20 metal albums of all time and it is definitely an epitome of the Nu Metal genre.
Damn, forgot how great this cd was.... Outkast was great.... this was the first full cd I had of thiers and I immediately had to get that back catalog.... good sh*.... wish they'd come back...
