I jotted down a few notes. This is a lot of paraphrasing:
Signed 23 players.
Not into the star system. Wants players that are accountable and fit our program, our system.
The off year (2-10 season) really didn't hurt us. Sometimes that helps because players figure they can come in and play immediately.
Needed some experienced players to come in and contribute, so there are more JC players than usual.
Recruited 11 linemen, both offense and defense. Realy need them, We are in a physical division. Undersized linemen will no longer work. I will take 2 OL and move them to the DL.
Brent Todd (OL) is a grown man. Really good and mature. Took off 2 years to help family after death of (father?).
We are going to lose 9 OL from last year through end of next year. Important to have OL replacements. We have 4 JC linemen.
Echols, Barnett, Stubblefield - these linemen all have great size.
We must play more physical to win this division.
I do not believe MEMPHIS has had the linemen that are as good, as fast, or as deep as we have right now.
Our skill guys have to have speed.
Cam Baker is a legit speedster - a track guy. He will really help, even on KO returns.
Dalas Walker will be a QB. We signed him as a QB. He is not going to be a TE because he is 6'5" and only 205 pounds. Very athletic, and we need athletic QB's. We offered him a scholly in camp last year.
Phelps is a JC MLB and a smart guy. he will help the defense.
Still looking for speed on 3rd down pass rush. Greg Terrell was recruited 2 years ago and weighed 208. Now he is 248 but still fast. We can use players like him in specialty roles.
Focus in spring practice will be 3rd down defense. We did okay this past year on 1st and 2nd downs, but were horrible on 3rd down.
We only lost one recruit we wanted. It was a recruiting day decision (I did not get the name of the player). But the board is empty. Nothing else on it. It is over. We got the players we wanted.
Time to focus on completing the coaching staff. I'm getting anxious now that recruiting is over. I have to get to work on new coach hires.
I don't like to mix recruiting and hiring coaches.
The staff we had for recruiting did very well. 2 new guys really helped. Also, the players help sell our program during the visits.
We are pretty good evaluators of players. Next year's senior class will be good leaders and the JC players will step right in and contribute.
We are going in the right direction.

Everything Tommy said about Cam, Cam said about Tommy. That's good. I'm not worried about the WR, I'm worried about our QB's now.

you can't be if you are a coach at a non-BCS school, unless of course you happen to sign a couple of 4 or 5 star players, then you'd care.
