Vanderbilt dips into Memphis for football standouts
Article in this morning's Nashville City Paper:[quote]VU dips into Memphis for standouts
By Brett Hait, bhait@nashvillecitypaper.com
February 07, 2007

John Stokes like to win, and winning has traditionally been in short supply at Vanderbilt.

When the Commodores began to recruit Stokes, a standout linebacker from Memphis University School, he had some hesitation, even though his parents graduated from VU in the early 1980s.

Undaunted, Vanderbilt coaches convinced Stokes that the program is ascending. He will be among 14 players expected to sign with the Commodores today, national signing day for high school football seniors across the country.
