Player of the Week Nomination:

Tony Richie, junior catcher, 6-1, 215, Jacksonville, FL

*Hit .455 (5-for-11) with two home runs and nine RBI in sweep of
Evansville

*Also scored four runs, walked four times and struck out only once

*Now leads the team with three home runs on the season

*Had an on-base pct. of .600 and a slugging pct. of 1.000 over the weekend

*No errors or passed balls

*Recorded a career-high five RBI in Saturday's victory


Pitcher of the Week Nomination:

LHP Trent Peterson, junior, 6-1, 180, Tallahassee, FL

*Earned his first victory of the season Sunday vs. Evansville

*Worked five scoreless innings and gave up just three hits

*Totaled three strikeouts and walked two

*Held Evansville to a .188 batting average and did not give up an extra base hit

*Now 1-0 with a 2.19 ERA on the season


Notes:

*Florida State has now won five straight

*Seminoles have averaged 12.0 runs and 13.3 hits over the last four games

*FSU pitching staff has a 2.18 season ERA with an opp. BA of .212

*FSU hit a season-high four home runs in Sunday's win over Evansville

*Newcomer Danny Wardell (soph.) had just three late inning at bats over
the weekend and hit two home runs

*Team batted .373 against the Aces with seven homers, three doubles and
two triples

*Junior right-hander Marc LaMacchia (1-0, 0.00 ERA) will take one more
weekend off to rest a sore right elbow

*Rotation vs. Appalachian St. will be LHP Matt Lynch, RHP Mark Sauls and LHP Trent Peterson
