I haven't heard anything about the young man. He's the PG on a team led by SF Nathaniel Lester, who is going to Hofstra. The PG the Tigers are currently recruiting from New York, Kemba Walker from Harlem, is playing at Rice High School in the Bronx.
Ron Naclerio in his "New York City Report" on
HoopScoop had Jules as the No. 78 prospect in New York City, but that wasn't a recent ranking. He also had Walker at no. 41, so those are just numbers. All I can tell you is that he isn't being recruited by any of the big schools at this point. At 6'1" if he isn't athletic, his choices may be limited.
I'm a big fan of the borough of Brooklyn, and really like hearing things about it, basketball related or not. To me it's the essence of the whole New York experience. People as diverse as Carl Sagan and the Three Stooges have come from Brooklyn.
After I read your post, I pulled up the
Wikipedia entry on Canarsie:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Canarsie,_Brooklyn
Canarsie comes from the Alogonquian Indian word meaning "fort". Unfortunately, the Indians who sold Manhattan for 60 guilders to the Dutch were from Canarsie. That was obviously a big boo-boo by those Indians. They should have just sold Hoboken. lol
Canarsie has produced some well-known basketball players: Lloyd B. Free (Guilford College, Philadelphia 76ers, etc.), John Salley (Georgia Tech, Detroit Pistons, etc., tv star), and Geoff Huston (Texas Tech).
