per ESPN.com...

Oklahoma football coach Bob Stoops dismissed Hunter Wall from the team Tuesday, hours after he was arrested on complaints of second-degree burglary and marijuana possession.

There had been other incidents involving Wall throughout the semester, Stoops said in a statement released from the university.

"We've had other incidents that I'm not going to discuss," Stoops said. "He was removed for a while in the winter and allowed some other chances.

"He's not going to be a part of this team anymore," he said.

Wall, 21, was a backup quarterback before being moved to tight end this spring.

Norman police arrested Wall and another person Tuesday afternoon for allegedly breaking into an apartment.

Police say they have no reason to believe that the other man with Wall was affiliated with the Oklahoma football program.

The 220-pound All-American from Coppell, Texas, was regarded as of the top 50 players and top five quarterbacks in Texas.

Oh well, one less Sooner athlete from Coppell, Texas (there seem to be a lot of kids from there that play something at OU).

But about Wall. It seems like they had high hopes for him at one time.

I don't mean to be blase about it, but Bob Stoops isn't one to take crap, so this move doesn't surprise me on his part.

I wonder what the "other incidents" were that Stoops wouldn't mention.

Oh, by the way, this happened a couple of weeks ago so it's sort of old news. But since this board didn't exist a couple of weeks ago, that's okay!

Help me out here...

Wasn't Wall the guy that threw a long touchdown on a fake field goal or punt against Kansas State last year?

Hunter Wall caught the swing p*** on the fake FG for a TD against KSU last year. I was there and saw it from my endzone seat. It was quite sweet, and, as it turns out, quite necessary to get a win in that game.

He has had other problems along the way to get a bit into Stoops' doghouse, and this was the final straw. Considering the severity of the charges though, it very well may have been the final straw anyway.

Most don't see this as much of a loss. This is no slight to Hunter, but a glimpse of reality. He was the 4th string QB (maybe 5th or 6th after Noah Allen and Paul Thompson report in the fall), and was being switched to TE to better account for his talents.

OU only has something like 13 scholarships to give next year and this adds another to that list, which in the long run is probably a big plus.
